Tim Walz said it’s a beautiful thing to hear kids speaking 60 different languages in our schools.

You can read all that and blame everyone else and scream racism. But that is probably precisely why it’s so ever present and acute. Accountability.

Liberals point out the homogeneous blue states are smarter than the more diverse southern states with higher black populations.

And there is no way this could possibly be seen as evidence of systemic racism. It's because melanin and intellect have an inverse relationship, right

Unlike a ton of States, Mississippi schools all opened in August of 2020 during covid and never closed again (I think with the exception of a few in the delta)

We had a Democrat governor.

I suspect the current crop of voters will go back to that. But hopefully the future is brighter with this young group. At least they will be able to read amendments.

It’s not about skin color.

There are Indians that are darker than American blacks.

It’s culture. Reading and speaking well makes you an Uncle Tom and trying to act white.

Only black people can change this.

I didn’t expect you to even notice it. You’re holding an absolutely retarded idea as a knee jerk counter to the idea that “anything is possible” crowd that pretends we’re all blank slates of potential.

I’ll put together some data later tonight to show you how off your thesis is. Whereupon you can revise and pretend you never said what you said. Should be fun.

You have yet to even attempt to articulate why it is wrong

Should be fun. But again I say make sure you don't discount confounding variables. For example. Don't just compare white kids in one state to white kids in another. That would be a massive fail

Absolutely believable, because it is true. NM has been at the bottom for a very very long time. The public school systems are shite by and large. Administratively it is run by socially driven people.

The education system in NM is abysmal.

Also just for clarity. What is it that you believe my fundamental assertion was in my first post in the first place? Cuz I have a feeling it's not exactly on target

Wow, AZ, CA, and NV are educationally equivalent to AL which puts almost nothing into education. And OR was worse.

And the great crawfishing begins.

Everybody knows that if you take a good white school from somewhere in Mississippi and compared to a good white school from somewhere in Minnesota you get basically the same results.

Here's three school districts right next to each other (All in St. Louis County):

F&R stands for students eligible for Free and Reduced lunch.
Math, Reading and Science proficiency for elementary schools.

Here's three more districts in close proximity (All in Jefferson County, suburban St. Louis MSA):

And just to highlight, an additional quote from you:
quote:

There's really nothing particularly special about teachers and schools in most places.

The impact that an individual teacher can have on test scores and student achievement is almost impossible to overstate. A good teacher can advance a student by 1.5 years of achievement. A bad one can regress a student by up to 0.5 years.

A well-run school with solid curriculum, good interventions and systems, can mop the floor of schools with better demographics.
