sorry but why would anybody believe this fake news?
logically
- no company is turning down billions of revenue from that region
- a 5 second Google search confirms this is false and made up. the only sources are random people and not a spokesperson

This is what socialism/communism does. Cuts out the free market and makes the population wholly reliant on the government in every aspect of their lives.
Idiots in NYC will reap what they sow.

The freight still needs delivered into the city so any carrier local or national will get hit with these charges. The shipper and the customer alike will realize the cost. You’ll have decreased access to goods as nobody is going to win. That includes the coffers of the city as decreasing shipping means decreased collections all whilst the commie gives away the streets to incoming Muslims. This Fed administration better find something fast that shuts this clown show down

I hope this dude fails spectacularly, but is there a legit source for this besides a tweet? I can't find it anywhere else.
Welcome to a Placekicker thread. Everyone is just a link to a tweet in the OP without legit sourcing. Seriously, look at his thread history. I can’t believe people keep falling for this (jk can totally believe it—most posters here are idiots).

The news comes as Mamdani released his plan to increase revenue across the city by quadrupling the cost of tolls, licensing, permits, and inspections of all commercial vehicles.
"He's going to put a lot of the independent truckers out of business."

Swift like JB Hunt or the rest of the main trucking companies offer door to door service. Smaller carriers use a lot of brokers for arrangement of their business and now those brokers will have a hard time coaxing anyone to come out of pocket for those tolls just to wait 45 days for reimbursement. 15 years ago I would see 100.00 regularly for toll receipts from my drivers.

Mamdani wants that.
He wants to scuttle the city.

How can they not service NYC?
That's a lot of freight.
Many refrigerated companies for example that haul refers like mclane, sysco, performance, etc all deliver nationwide.
There are many companies that wont even deliver in new York because of the insurance risk. Its over crowded. So now it will be even worse. Other transportation companies will follow suit.
Knight/Swift own about 10 other trucking companies also like variant, us xpress and not to mention Walmart trans. Etc. In some way they are all under knight/swift and jb hunt. All Walmart people etc.

Bad thing for him is he can't increase any of those things by himself, it has to be approved at the state level.
Maybe this will work out great for him. It will prevent him from spending on his hare-brained schemes while giving him a scapegoat (Hochul and the State Dems) to campaign against.
“Democratic Socialism” is a great platform, but it’s greatness is in the campaigning, and accumulation of power, not so much in the implementation.

Trump is essentially doing the same thing with tariffs.
This is exactly what I'm dying laughing at in this thread. Comedy gold.
(Also, y'all might want to read the thread. This is fake news).

You guys keep falling for these bullshite rumors that have at best anecdotal evidence.
" Oh, some schmuck named Kyle posted it on X and it just so reinforces my world view.....so I'll accept it."
Meanwhile Kyle ends up being some overly caffeine soaked incel still living at home.
Swift / Knight has made no formal or informal announcement about freight into NYC

Sounds an awful lot like a tariff.

He really has no idea what he's doing.
Which proves the Socialist crowd is just not very smart. They believe that you can just speak things into existence.
Like, taxing billionaires will automatically make themselves wealthy and no longer poor.

No he wont with this. If the big boys quit going, the indies will jack up rates and go. Now the Jew hater will likely put caps on but then New Yorkers will feel it more.

A road toll is a fee paid by drivers to use specific roads, bridges, or tunnels, primarily to cover the costs of construction, maintenance, or to manage traffic congestion.
A tariff, on the other hand, is a specific type of duty applied primarily to imported or exported goods as part of trade policy, often to protect domestic industries or generate revenue.

That's a lot of freight.
Costs more than they're being paid. Simple economics.
