All this post did was let us know you like to blame others for your failures, and those failures are mounting I'm sure.

quote:No, dad, there was no nation of Greece in ancient times. There were hundreds of autonomous city states who shared the same basic language. Each had its own customs and laws. Some of them were accepting of homo behavior. Many were not, and almost none were accepting of what you'd call a modern gay relationship where two guys get married and shack up with each other.
That's literally the equivalent of saying there were/are no such thing as Indians,
quote:Blah blah blah you're just reeling off names of places. You don't know shite.
Reference social habits and well documented (contemporary Greek sources) in Athens, Thebes, Sparta, Corinth
And again, even if you were right, NONE of those places or people had anything to do with the normalization of homosexuality in the last half century.

That would be the Greek academics and artisans themselves.

Sad thing is if he didn't put this and hired somebody not part of these groups liberals would probably try to ruin him.

quote:Once a Critical Theory is established, they are normally competing operations.
Critical thinking and critical theory aren't competing methodologies.
Critical Theory and the Scientific Method are actually the competing methodologies.
quote:No.
Is your contention with critical theory that it doesn't shy away from identifying who benefits and who suffers within particular systems?
My contention with critical theory is it initially fixates on a target, the supposed system beneficiary. It then concludes that any identified beneficiaries achieve such status via oppression of others who concurrently suffer within those systems. From that point, it begins a fact search to support the conclusion, while attacking efforts to question the conclusion.

nd now I look forward to seeing you cite super liberal academics to support your claims. Should be fun.

Here, let me simplify for you.
OP: 'Boomers were the driving force behind the normalization of homosexuality in modern times'
YOU: 'Nuh uh. It was the ancient Greeks.'
Conclusion - retard. And that was just one of your dumb responses.

I could be wrong but I think the dude that puked out this OP was stuck on some Boomer Bashing thread for several days awhile back. If it's the same dude, I think I told him to tell his Boomer parents/grandparents how he feels about them and just let it go. If it's not the same dude, I give the OP the same advice.
Sounds like his parents and grand parents cut of his allowance and made him move out of the basement. If he keeps pushing, maybe he'll get disinherited.

Sounds rather discriminatory and possibly illegal, Ed.

quote:Well Bozo, no one contended differently. The Greeks would have referred to themselves as "believers in Hellen," or Hellenes. The Romans in their initial encounters named the Greeks after the first group they encountered on the peninsula. It was an exonym like "Indians" that stuck. Either reference was to a collection of peoples, or city-states, rather than a defined nation.
No, dad, there was no nation of Greece in ancient times

quote:The OP stupidly assigned Ed Markey and his leftist nonsense as synonymous to "Boomers."
OP: 'Boomers were the driving force behind the normalization of homosexuality in modern times'
In a separate post, the same imbecile said "Boomers' love of ... gay sex did irreversible damage to the soul of this nation. This is indisputable." He said nothing about "the driving force behind the normalization of homosexuality in modern times." Those are your terms.
Millennials are the modern generation that normalized homosexuality. Polling consistently shows GenY as the first cohort where majority acceptance was the default rather than the exception. But then again, you blame Boomers for the GenY stereotype, because many of them were Boomer offspring.

Either reference was to a collection of peoples, or city-states, rather than a defined nation.
And none of that has anything to do with your moronic contention that modern gay normalization is the fault of the 'ancient Greeks.'

quote:Wait, you said it was the Greeks.
Polling consistently shows GenY as the first cohort where majority acceptance
Anyway, I'd say the kids are thinking what the schools and culture taught them to think, School systems and culture crafted by boomers.
What you cite is the fact that it has been normalized. You're the ones who brought us to that place, though.

And they're both erroneous in that blanket generalization
That is your honest position?
I'll leave others to consider the "validity" of your "point" claiming the assignment of an exonym negates basis for actual existential presence.
quote:Had the post I was responding to said that, I would have responded differently. It didn't.
modern gay normalization
If you were a bright fellow, you would check what was actually posted, rather than what you perceived was posted. Especially after I've already corrected you once.
As relates to homosexuality, the poster's contention was "Boomers' love of ... gay sex did irreversible damage to the soul of this nation. This is indisputable."
Was that true of the ancient Greeks and Romans?
The poster claims both his claim of fact and of fault are "indisputable."
It is an idiotic contention.
Yet here you are, attempting to rehab the idiotic contention by altering its language, then trying to pass your altered language off as the source of the original response. It is silly. You are silly for doubling down after you were called on it the first time.

quote:You are really trying hard.
Wait, you said it was the Greeks.

My response was to your reassembled "modern driving force" premise.

The legacy of Baby Boomers illustrated in one simple tweet
Which 'Boomers,' do you mean? Are you talking about the 1960s hippies who were actually led by the Beatniks and Bohemians of the Greatest and Silent Generations? The working-class Boomers drafted into Vietnam, only to be spat on by their own peers and betrayed by the older generations that sent them there? Or do you mean 'Generation Jones', the tail-end Boomers who came of age in the late '70s and '80s and share way more DNA with Gen X?

quote:Yeah, in other words, the normalization of it from a society where previously it was criminal.
Boomers' love of ... gay sex did irreversible damage
quote:And then I explained how little understanding you have of that culture if you're equating it to what we have now. And you posted a picture of a vase, and I laughed.
Was that true of the ancient Greeks and Romans?
Nothing is your fault. Everything is the fault of those who came before and after you. Classic boomer.
Bottom line, you were either one of the liberals who degenerated our society or you're one of the weak fricks who lost to them. Get it now?

Hoiy shite, you're a dumbfrick.
But your projection skills might get you a solid job at the local cinema.
Let's review:
quote:Take mulligan. Have another shot.
there was no such thing as 'the Greeks'
---
Yikes! That's literally the equivalent of saying there were/are no such thing as Indians, relating to American aboriginals
Were there actually Greeks?
Were there actually Indians?
quote:That was not the original contention. It is your contention. Your contention is incorrect. In the terms you lay out, GenY is the group that normalized it. I'm sorry such facts upset you.
Yeah, in other words, the normalization of it
quote:I am noting social acceptance vs social destruction. I'm noting you continue to dig a hole. I'll caution you that I know a great deal about both those societies.
I explained how little understanding you have of that culture if you're equating it to what we have now.
quote:More projection.
Nothing is your fault.
I don't attribute generational blame as you do. It's not my thing. I simply support adaptive self-reliance as foundational to American Exceptionalism. I also have a firm understanding of current American opportunity vs opportunity elsewhere. Both now, and historically.
quote:You are an emotional wreck. It's less seemly than you realize.
Bottom line, you were either one of the liberals who degenerated our society or you're one of the weak fricks who lost to them. Get it now?

Markey has been in the House and Senate for 50 years. He's 80 years old. That's what's wrong with boomers. They won't give it up.
