I think, if you aren't trying to be offended by things, Trump's remarks are understandable.
The men's gold was a big upset, even though there were NHL players on the team, because the Canadians had the superstars.
The women's team was actually favored to win going in. The Canadians played them tough and controlled most of the match, but the US was the betting favorites.
So what the men did was the greater accomplishment, but Trump said they'd have to share the stage.
I think the women were actually being gracious by declining.

No doubt. I had fun watching the women’s game but it was what it was, an appetizer for the men’s game. The speed and intensity of the men’s game was incredible.
