40 million unemployed American workers, you have plenty to choose from.
Sorry your corporate overlords are pissed they have to be a good corporate citizen and help Americans get gainful employment even if it means paying more.

Why shouldn't tech give these jobs to unemployed black people?
You must not have heard the latest BLM claim-- STEM is racist.

Why can’t Americans being the ones producing the tech instead of immigrants?
Why do you think it is appropriate to have foreigners taking jobs when tens of millions of Americans are out of work?
For starters they need to be qualified to do the work.
We do have labor shortages in certain markets. Using immigration to fill those gaps makes sense.

Who told you this? Jack Dorsey?

There is not a shortage of tech workers. There is a shortage of tech workers that will agree to work for the ridiculously low salaries that H1B workers take. H1Bs are destroying the markets for tech workers and graduate programs at universities, lowering the average salaries and therefore making it difficult for American workers to stay in the field. H1Bs should be completely outlawed. The “shortage” is something that has been faked by the universities and tech companies to justify hiring H1B workers, who cost much less

bullshite! The oil rigs were flooded with cheap Filipino slave workers using the HB process.

I refuse to believe blue collar young people from the Midwest and New England can’t learn tech skills and fill these jobs
Actually, American’s had those jobs and were instrumental in those companies growing and prospering. Then, to the detriment of America, those US workers were replaced via the H1-B program by foreign workers that were willing to work for less. These were highly profitable companies that chose to shite on American workers so their administrative hierarchy could get a raise. Hell, even Disney was complicit, even having American’s train their replacements.
As for this being high tech only, that answer is wrong. It is basically an additional avenue for open borders, so those pushing H1-B visas can frick off with their false narrative. The % of those not honoring the terms of the visa, and subsequently being returned to their home nation is virtually ZERO.
quote:
For an honest debate on H-1B, we need to argue over the true intent of H-1B as enacted by Congress:
The purpose of the H-1B program is to provide employers cheap foreign labor to replace American workers.
Posted on 6/23/20 at 8:31 am to agregime1
soooo you're saying you have a potential monetary windfall to be gained so long as the current H1-B visa system is in place?

My problem with it is that they waited till now to implement it, this is useless posturing in an election year that will be undone the moment the election is over. Most of you fools will stay on the GOP plantation because they throw you crumbs like this shite.

Unfortunately, this is true.

100% true.

Indeed I do. Most Americans don't have the skills or education to do anything in tech but wash the windows and floors.

quote:The smart part is the H1-B affects technology positions where there is a significant CCP espionage issue amongst workers.
Dumb part is the H1-B affects the technology position the most where there is a current huge shortage in workers.

We went to the moon, but only Sanjit in Bangalore has the knowledge and skills to program for the twatter!
You people actually believe this schlock?
How about our nation invest in teaching some of these skills to its citizens? Might that not be a worthwhile investment?

You and I may not have got along last fall but on this we agree.
The biggest problem with big corporations today is that corporate America has completely abandoned the middle class, the poor and in doing so all concept and desire of being a good corporate citizen that lifts up all Americans in a rising tide and instead have embraced an unconscionable level of greed and that greed is the driving feature of the globalism they subscribe to.
You know what's a great example of that greed for big corporations? Boeing and their 737 MAX disaster and outsourcing development of the MAX's software to cheaper $9 dollars an hour Indian engineers.

Comparing the state of the average engineer/STEM during the space race to what we have now is night and day. Those guys got to the moon on a handheld calculator and the slide rule.

All these corporations virtue signaling Black Lives Matter but they will absolutely refuse to hire black Americans because they cost the same as white Americans and keep importing cheap foreign workers.

These mouth breathers think that Bob from the coal mine can learn that tech job at Google. They just need to retrain him, duh!
