A long held Democrat lie. The "shutdown" of mental institutions started long before Reagan.

How is it free trade with China govt pays companies to help artificially lower prices on the global market?

How is it free trade when China steals intellectual property from foreign companies and then subsidizes that industry so that the rest of the world can not compete?

1980-1987 was a long time ago. You know what we have in common economically? Nothing whatsoever.

Whole different world we have today the. When he was president. Clinton fricked up big concerning China.

He would have been on board with what’s happening tariff wise. He might not have liked using them but he would have.

Reagan was not facing the Chinese threat and the threat from traitors in our own country that Trump is fighting.. To say that conditions were the same in the 1980's as now is showing extreme ignorance.

Free trade works well if it is traded truly free.

One big way it’s not free is when one side is a collection of private businesses and the other side is a government DBA a “private” business.

China has so bastardized international trade that the terms and concepts from the 1980s are meaningless now.

And the American nightmare issue with this China style business model is that companies like Blackrock absolutely desire it. It maximizes profits as well as keeping people ensnared similar to indentured servants

There is literally no such thing as “free” trade. It doesn’t exist. Every nation looks out for their own self interests, why shouldn’t the US?

Correct.

People who can't understand that we are trying to flip an unprecedented (possibly catastrophic) distorted paradigm versus anything we might have been discussing regarding "free trade" in the 1980s are either terribly misguided or horrendously dishonest.

True. And a constant Dem lie about Reagan is how they ignore how policies were initiated. Reagan had his own that were great. But he signed bills that were initiated by Dems and passed by a Congress that also had left leaning GOP members called moderates. He couldn't veto everything with a Congress that required compromise.

Ronald Reagan was wrong about a very large amount of things. He is only remembered so fondly because of his key role in the 80’s culture war, the dissolution of the Soviet Union, and how utterly hopeless Carter’s presidency was.

Reagan’s CIA engineered the crack epidemic, crawfished on tax reform, punted on immigration, severely restricted gun rights, unleashed the institutionalized crazies onto the public, f$&ked up the situation in Lebanon even worse, and endorsed heavy-handed extortion of states via federal funds circumventing the 10th Amendment.

Reagan did a lot of good as well, but the GOP canonizes Reagan far too much.

tell me you weren't alive during the reagan years without telling me you weren't alive during the reagan years. reagan wielded tariffs like a battle axe,

i don't what books you've read or what libtardtarians you listen too but the fact of the matter is at the time the cato institute called him the most protectionist president since hoover.

now get your a*s out on that corner and go make my social security money biotch!

Reagan was an awesome president for his time and was exactly what the country needed then. Trump is an awesome president for his time and is exactly what we need now. Both are GOATs.
