Single-issue voting is the problem. There are a lot of people who support conservative stances on many things but are extremely pro-abortion and vote Democrat simply because of that.

If the GOP wants to have a better chance of winning this election, they’re gonna have to soften their stance on abortion. There’s simply no other choice. I hate abortion with a passion, but this issue is the game-changer in the swing states.

There are way more women than there are men in this country, and probably 90% of college-educated Gen Z/Millenial women who vote will support some degree of abortion rights. If the GOP can’t adapt and cater to this demographic, then they’re finished as a party.

This can only provide a functional government when those who have input have some education as well. Unfortunately, education has been rather lacking and further eroding over the course of the last forty years or so. How you should feel about something has been substituted in place of teaching the facts of a matter in many core courses of study.

Democratic processes provide little more than chaos in a society of illiterates.

You're not wrong. Congress has a 90+% re-election rate. Why would we expect government to change course? If you were in Congress, and consistently re-elected wouldn't you think everything is great?

Congress is a bunch of irresponsible deplorable. And unfortunately, they represent our culture that is rotting. This is exactly how our representative republic is supposed to work. It's functioning perfectly.

We are getting the government we've asked for.

I'm sure this made sense in your head, but...what?

Nobody is discussing the EC or its impact on the Presidential selection system.

And the DEMs changing their candidate also has no impact on the EC's role in the decision-making process

They solved it for you. You got what you wanted, the people dont have a say.

I don't even know that its the broader Republican platform that is a minority nationwide.

Its the things that the GOP focuses on that the majority seems to reject. The Republican Party as a whole has been absolutely terrible at messaging and selling its platform since the late 80's.

No, azzholes are the problem. People so ate up with politics in totality are the problem. When all your choices in life start becoming based on politics, that's a problem and your diversions start getting political then, people are the problem.

Oh. I'm not going to listen to a particular artist or band because some of their lyrics are of a political stripe I don't like....but I used to like the music.

Not going to watch football or basketball anymore because my favorite QB took a stance.....that was not conservatve/liberal for me

Gee my neighbor seems to be a good guy, watches out for my house when I'm gone and is pretty pleasant. But dammit!!! He's a Democrat / Republican....so I'm not talking to him anymore.

My cousin is liberal. I'm conservative. We disagree politically....I guess I'll write him/ her off.

I see this shite more and more and its ridiculous. You certainly can do what you want, but basing your relationships to people and things based on politics is....creepy

People gravitate towards people, entertainment, and interests, that mirror their own. The outset of everyone feeling the need to express their political positions is going to lead to this.

The thing is, they have in large part. Particularly at the top of the ticket. But the Democrats and the media lie about it anyway and Trump's actual position on the issue never reaches anyone that isn't watching him speak live.

The people are the problem. John Adams summed it up best:

Morality and virtue are the foundation of a republic and necessary for a society to be free. Virtue is the character to govern oneself according to moral law at all times. We have gigantic chunks of the populace that simply cannot or do not self govern. Crime, voting to enrich yourself, fatherless homes are just some examples of this. A free society will have trouble lasting over the long run as people take advantage of others and take more from society than they provide.

My favorite example of how to identify people that dont self-govern: If they return the shopping cart to the designated spot or not. These same people leave dirty diapers on the ground. You know who they are. They are all around us. They might be on this forum. But as long as there are large numbers of them, our free republic will probably not last.
