IMO..
This is all a dog and pony show. Any real legal action with Trump would give him and his lawyers an opportunity to respond and get responses from others under oath..
I think that is the last thing they would want...

I'm thinking they are going the same route as the Petraeus case. The mere possession of the documents.
From what I can see there is nothing in writing from Trump specifically declassifying the particular docs. It's all bullshite and most probably Trump did not know he had them, but absent anything written he has a hard climb. Like I said.....it's bullshite

This. It's better to claim he's a criminal that gets away with it than actually arrest him and hold him. that's begging for both trouble and the creation of a martyr.
If they were smart (and that's a big if knowing what we know about the progressive sky screamers and the Biden admin), they would string this out until 2024. Yes, a lot of innuendo, but nothing actionable.
If Trump runs, and wins the nomination, then the day after to convention arrest him. Get a Democrat friendly judge to hold him without bail. Then you've got your Republican nominee sitting in jail and not able to campaign. Hammer the point that you can't vote for a criminal.
So at that point the Republicans are stuck. Stay with Trump and lose the votes of the dumbass suburban housewives who turn against him in 2020 again, or replace him on the ticket and lose all of your MAGA voters.
Pretty much becomes a shoe-in for Biden/Harris/whoever.

You might be right in a real justice system.
This is a rigged grand jury, rigged judges, and rigged juries.
Every judge that has sentenced Jan 6th defendants has said, "you shouldn't have listened to Trump". They all lay it at Trump's feet.
The system is dying to put Trump in front of one of these judges. Democrat voters are demanding it.
You think Trump gets a fair trial in DC? You think he gets a venue change? Give me a break.

Trump tweeted an overall general statement that nothing justifies the raid.
He also asked for the Judges recusal.
I am presuming his lawyers are asking for judge recusal formally & officially?

I can't believe you think they won't make something up.
It's easy when no one in the judicial system will care.
They all have the same goal.
They have charged trespassers at worst with seditious conspiracy.
They have held people charged with misdemeanors without bail.
All that have been tried have been convicted and sent to prison.
No judge in DC cares even one iota.
Trumps status as a free man is entirely up to the opinion of the Washington establishment.
If they need to put Trump in jail they will do it. End of story.
As for Trump lawyers, he hasn't had a decent one around him since the first impeachment trial.

This^^ Them not releasing the affidavit pretty much proves it for me.
Although…they might get real desperate and do it anyway.
I still believe they were covering their own asses with the raid more than going after Trump.
