primary turn out isnt the end all be all+at least from what Ive seen beto has really expanded his campaign footprint to redder areas after securing the blue ones for the primary

Listen I have the same goal you do. However need to call a spade a spade. There is an enthusiasm gap, the polls are closing and Cruz needs to get it in gear

Their positions have not even been widely discussed yet.

The overwhelming majority of people have not given the election the first thought yet

Left over from the primary. Republicans won't get engaged until after Labor Day.

Agree 100%... Make no doubt about it, Beto is to Texas what Trump is to the Northeast... people support him but won't acknowledge it.

It seems like every single election is life or death, but the divide between the two parties is so polar that each election has HUGE consequences.

Texas Conservatives best not take ANYTHING for granted.

Beto is super open with his positions:

- healthcare is a right. UHC or medicare for all
- open up doors for immigration and legalize all dreamers
- work to make trade school and community college free (this is not something i'm entirely against... but that's a longer discussion)
- student debt forgiveness and expanding the pell grant
- publically only for further gun background checks and smaller magazines, behind closed doors he's mentioned AR bans
- against the tax reform
- equality, equal pay
- more regulations on business

i'm not knocking or agreeing with his positions, but if you've heard any sort of blurb from him, you know exactly what he stands for.

other than that his stances are: jobs for all texans, take care of our veterans, clean energy etc. i.e. the exact same positions politicians on both sides of the aisle take.

Go look up the primary voting

My neighbors went to a fundraiser for him and had to buy the signs. Tempted daily to remove them but I'm not that guy

@ OP, you're absolutely correct although I'm not buying those polls......at all. I'm sure it's narrowed but not to 6

The only one that matters: His name isn't Ted Cruz.

Ted has been an embarrassment to the state of Texas. I voted for him in 2012 and severely regret it. He shut down the government. He filibustered with a Dr. Seuss book. frick him. Anyone but Cruz.

Ted Cruz is a giant creepy boring turd sandwich but i agree with his votes 99% of the time. there's a few votes where he Lee, and Paul are the lone voices of reason.

I'm also a big fan of Beto's pledge that if he wins, he will serve no more than 2 terms. He believes in term limits. His campaign has been to every single county in Texas. For those small state residents here, there are over 200 of them. We big. And Beto gives enough of a shite to talk to everyone. That says something about him.

Hopefully Dems sink tens of millions into this race only to lose by a few points... less Soros $ at play in other states like IN, FL, MO where they have a better shot.

I don't care who believes it. I've historically voted libertarian when possible and Republican when not. But the Republicans have lost their way, bigly. Both parties are full of crooks and liars so I'd rather go with my gut.

maybe, but i like his voting.

i don't vote for my president to be my pastor and i don't vote for my senator to be my friend.

if i'm voting on likability factor, i'll take Beto all day. he doesn't have a single issue that involves an actual opinion i agree on.

it would be different if he was like Vitter where there's a blatant character flaw that proves he's a hypocrite and terrible person, but not being a likeable guy is not the last straw for me.
