Has anyone seen if Beto accepted the 5 debates Cruz proposed? That will be lively entertaining.
I may disagree with his ideology, but Beto is a bright guy. It goes without saying that Cruz is one of the brightest guys in the Senate.
Actual debates between them might be the most-substantive political debates in a long time.

I was lazy when I made that post and should’ve just did a google search.
The first debate is slated next Friday in Dallas.
2 debates in September
2 debates in October.
Houston, San Antonio, Lubbock are the other sites.
That article did say that this would be Betos first time ever debating... which I think is interesting.

quote:Why does his nickname bother you non-Texans so much?
is this the Irish guy pretending to be a Mexican?
He grew up in freakin’ EL PASO, and attended public schools. The city is more than 80% Latino. Of COURSE he speaks Spanish and has a Spanish nickname. I challenge you to find a native El Pasoan who DOESN’T.
There are plenty of valid reasons not to vote for the guy, but his name is not one of them.

quote:There is some truth to this. Ted took Gramm’s title as the Senator Most Likely to Injure a Bystander Standing between Him and a News Camera.
Paul is a voice of reason. Ted is a voice of attention whore.
But he is right on policy about 95% of the time.

It is called PANDERING to a certain voter base to attempt to make them think you are something that you really aren't in real life in any way or form just to get votes. Yes, I call that bothersome. Embarrassing actually.

Is that unique to Beto? Or pretty much standard operating procedure for political campaigns?

Texan here.
It bothers me.
I have chosen to be bothered by it.

When Paul filibustered, he stayed on topic. When Ted did it, he read Green Eggs and Ham.

I think he didn't have anything better say, which defeats the purpose

quote:You make that sound like some sort of punishment. I don’t think Dub has ever made that claim in the past. Why would it bother him to lose that option?
You are free to vote for Robert. You are free to dislike Ted Cruz. However you can absolutely never, ever claim again to be conservative if you vote for Robert ORourke over Ted Cruz.

Yeah. Let's break up that shite.

quote:This makes very little sense.
You aren’t even remotely libertarian if you can go to the polls and vote for a progressive.
I would surmise that Dub is a slightly-left-leaning libertarian, putting him roughly at the “E” in Libertarian. Cruz is approximately above the “S” in “Conservative.”. And I would estimate that Beto is just beow the “E” in Liberal.
In other words, Dub is essentially equidistant from both candidates.

Frankly, I am skeptical that we should have extended the franchise to all these Louisiana refugees.

I just don't find that to be true. Left of center, yes, but not VERY left wing.
