So she can just hire some other DEI piece of crap? I’d almost rather this one just be under a microscope.
If anything she’s seemed to have done a marginally better job than most in this role.

Teedy needs to fire herself.

You don’t remember correctly. She had just visited an injured officer at the hospital and was negative for drugs and .00 bac.

And there nothing beyond the one cop car except aluminum and wooden barricades that a 85 year old could knock over.

Agreed.
Do the bollards extend to the sidewalk as well (honest question)?

And I believe the person(s) hit were under the influence.

Yep. Even New York knew to pull busses or dump trucks to block streets.
But "nobody does it like NOLA!" They know how to keep people safe!
Two police units could have done the job.

It was never on anyone’s radar to protect the FQ from this kind of terror attack. In all my years in and around New Orleans, I can’t ever remember the sidewalks being blocked in the manner people are discussing. They just wanted to prevent cars from turning down Bourbon. Obviously that’s going to change.
That's the heart of the problem: their "security" plan was not forward thinking or preventive; it was just repeating what they've always done before and not thinking of additional security concerns in today's world.
Woever's in control in NO needs to immediately fire the Chief and whoever put their "security" plan together.

See my thread currently. Answer is yes. She even showed the media how they are using them tonight. She didn’t know we had them. They would use four per street, two next to the sidewalk so it was impassable.
It’s sickening

Negative. They block the street to vehicle traffic.

How was she supposed to secure Bourbon? There was a police car parked blocking the street. The truck jumped the sidewalk to get onto the street.
Should the police chief have had a garbage truck park on the sidewalk? Then what happens when there’s a shooting and everyone runs to escape but can’t get away because there’s a garbage truck on the sidewalk?
Seriously, they had the fricking street blocked.

Though once on bourbon street, it’d be much tighter to squeeze by the bollards in the road then it was to get around the car further out on the sidewalk on canal?
Also much of bourbon has metal bollards on the sidewalk

I kinda wish Kirkpatrick could fire Teedy’s dumbass instead.

The argument against this is dumb. You can't prepare for every scenario and the had a damn cop blocking the street. That's a more than reasonable detterant.

I hear you but there’s a reason the terrorist chose the path next to the cop instead of the ones with the barriers.

That’s why competent cities use these for large event to deny vehicle access to large crowds.
NOLA apparently didn’t know they exist even though most large events use them.
Even the fricking hapless Jacksonville Jaguars.

JMO, whoever made the decision to sandbag the new barriers and wait so they can get it paid for through the Super Bowl Funding( as i understand it), is the one who should be fired.
And if they used any type of consulting firm to plan security for the bowl season, they should also take a hit if they didn't cover risk assessment on walkways, side streets, air, etc.

There are likely several folks that should be fired.

I’ve said this in other threads: It was never on anyone’s radar to protect the FQ from this kind of terror attack.
Are you like, working with the NOPD or with Homeland Security? Either way, y'all fricked the pooch bigly on this one. And if you aren't with either one, then stop and think about the absurdity of your statement.
I worked in a contractor support role with DHS, the Coast Guard, Customs and Borders and every state's emergency management, preparedness, 9-1-1, contraflow and disaster relief organization in applying various 'technologies' in support of those efforts, including how to support, during times of terroristic activities and natural disasters, the effective communication, supply chains and depth of required response.
I can assure you, from personal conversations and training simulations with these agencies of the government, a raucous New Year's Eve crowd on Bourbon Street before a Sugar Bowl has been on everyone's radar. The incompetence and just utter disdain that I have for the corrupt, inept leadership that permeates city hall can't be expressed strongly enough. This was completely avoidable. People knew. They have (are supposed to have) regular meetings with DHS and Emergency Management to prepare for potential worst case scenarios. This and Mardi Gras are both huge concerns. This is ALL on local leadership and their lack of concern.
