Landry isn't a POS. He is an arrogant coonass, which explains some of his decisions.

He seems pretty weird and isn’t very self aware. Being involved in bringing some random tiger into Tiger stadium thinking that would earn him praise when there’s plenty of other issues that need attention in this state was baffling.

Dude, I’m referring to all the Monday morning QBs who are saying that Bourbon St. should have been completely sealed off (sidewalks and streets) so as to prevent something like this from happening. That has never been done in New Orleans, nor is it done in many other places in the US. You ever been to a college football game? Virtually every big crowd event is vulnerable to this kind of thing and there isn’t much we can do about it. So lighten up Francis.

ETA: Oh, and maybe check out the set up at Mardi Gras sometime. Try securing that against this kind of thing.

Bro, are you kidding me?

IT IS THE JOB OF THE CITY TO KEEP EVERYONE SAFE AT ALL TIMES!!

Saying it's "never been that way before" is just ignorant.

"Its never been needed." Maybe not, but it is there job to think of every and all scenarios to keep everyone safe.

It is the job of Security to always be innovative, adaptable and think outside the box to prevent this type of event from possibly happening. It was a VERY simple solution. Bollards from sidewalk to sidewalk. NO EXCUSES!! NONE!!

You are detached from reality. Stay in your home and hide under your bed.

Although it's true that if some sicko is determined and slightly fortunate, there are a number of ways he could have killed people on Bourbon St., but "replacing" any kind of barriers and not having something in place for New Year's Freaking Eve and the Sugar Bowl is just retarded planning and undeniable failure. It just made it easy for this failure of a human being to find a little loophole to have some success with the plan he had.

Now, they did have a police vehicle blocking the street, so I suppose the safety setup could have been even more incompetent, but it was a construction vehicle barrier which stopped this guy. Had they replaced the other barriers, this guy likely would have had to come up with some other plan to harm people (or he would have hurt less people).

Sad as it is, it could have been much worse. Someone could probably do as much damage (or more) just randomly driving a car into a crowd at Mardi Gras. But we're focusing on if the leadership in the city did their job in working smart to protect the masses here on one of the biggest nights of the year and they clearly did not. Numerous people failed here and I would say it's hard to believe that so many would be that incompetent to not have those additional barriers in place for New Year's Eve, but this is New Orleans.

You don’t remember correctly. She had just visited an injured officer at the hospital and was negative for drugs and .00 bac.

You're right. I was confusing her wreck with Cedric Richmond's wreck and then NOPD's subsequent decision to not test him at all. LINK

NOPD report backs cop's decision to skip DWI test after Cedric Richmond crashed car into tree

A New Orleans paramedic who treated former U.S. Rep. Cedric Richmond after Richmond crashed his Mercedes into a tree along North Claiborne Avenue in April 2023 told the responding police officer that Richmond appeared intoxicated, according to an internal report by the NOPD’s Public Integrity Bureau.

The officer, Mark Miranda, like EMT Ryan Satterberg, noticed Richmond’s slurred speech and disorientation. But Miranda still opted against giving Richmond a sobriety test, or asking Richmond if he had been drinking, after consulting by phone with a ranking officer and noting Richmond’s importance.

FOURTEEN INNOCENT PEOPLE ARE DEAD....All because of the incompetence and indifference of the NOPD's leadership.

They had the proper equipment and have had it since 2017 but failed to use it. Why?

I know, maybe it was stored behind the monuments that were taken down and it was too much of a hassle to get to them. They are stored in the same place.

It doesn’t matter what the people of New Orleans think. Some incel in Walker disapproves so clearly she should be fired.
