The Taliban has now banned all Afgans from leaving the country, they have blocked all roads to the Kabul airport, and ordered all women to stay at home after they issued a "red line" evacuation threat to Joe Biden. There is no way for anyone to get to the airport now if they wanted to evacuate.
They just didn’t want to leave hard enough.

In essence, didn't we make it easy for the Tolly Bon? Everyone clamoring outside the airport is either American/foreign, American/foreign sympathizer, or someone that served the old government. Basically, every single type of person they are looking for....

The White House's Plan here is to end this ASAP because they think it be off the news cycle by Thursday thus giving them a political win by ending news coverage of how badly they botched this entire episode.
I do not see their plan winning unless the Tech Barons & MSM help them but the international press isn't going to let this go like these idiots think it will go away.

DOD and State briefings both cancelled.
We're seeing unprecedented levels of incompetence (at least in terms of realtime, public facing incompetence).
Unbelievable failure at all levels

Especially when Troops of all these other countries start getting attacked. It'll be all over international press.

What is the fricking point of just pulling out by Thursday? Why not work up to the agreed upon deadline of the 31st at least? Like, I can't wrap my mind around that reasoning.

Don't crucify me here as I am just playing devils advocate, but what responsibility do the American's that were there have for not leaving earlier? I realize there were mixed messages being sent from the embassy and from the administration but they had to know the end was coming soon.
I saw a comment on a Twitter post the other days that basically said the Americans that were there deserve their fate because they were just there for profit and to take advantage of the Afghan people. This is after people had started evacuating. My thoughts at the time were that any such "profiteers" that were still there were long gone the moment this looked scary and they had the resources to leave. The ones still there either had family obligations or were humanitarians who would be the last people to leave just based on their ideals and also didn't have the resources for a private evacuation.

So the plan changed or the previous statements about needing 7 days were bogus... considering the cluster this administration is, i am going with the latter

The Embassy was contracting with outside American companies in Afghanistan as recently as last Thursday. A lot of these companies are run by Americans or have American employees. If they were telling everyone to get out then why continue contracting with American companies (PR, food services, legal, etc.)

They think this will end the PR debacle and they can move on to other things they can frick up domestically.

Really? Do you not hunt? Never cleaned an animal? It's not the same but to be haunted by that video?

Exactly a week ago the US embassy in Kabul was busy hiring staff and we are supposed to believe this was a well-planned evacuation?

It's a shame the midterms aren't his November. Republicans might have a shot.

"We might be seeing the opening moves for a prisoner exchange to end US involvement. We hold several high-ranking Taliban members, including some from important tribes, and the Taliban still hold at least one US hostage. Lots of unusual activity over Gitmo"
Prisoner swap for American hostages currently in Afghanistan.
