Yes it was. We were always the bastion of hope for the rest of the world. Sadly, we’ve decided to abandon the title.

If the US sees US military equipment being used by the Taliban to offensively attack 3rd parties at what point do we have an moral obligation to drone strike that equipment and take its threat away.

Taliban warns of consequences if extended past 8/31
quote:
Taliban spokesperson Dr Suhail Shaheen said: "It's a red line. President Biden announced that on 31 August they would withdraw all their military forces. So if they extend it that means they are extending occupation while there is no need for that."
He added: "If the US or UK were to seek additional time to continue evacuations - the answer is no. Or there would be consequences.
"It will create mistrust between us. If they are intent on continuing the occupation it will provoke a reaction."

To my point, gloves off, roast them like goats on pit.

That's not going to be something they can wait until the last minute on. Joe will have to decide pretty quickly what to do, and staying past Aug. 31 with only the troops we have currently and with the arrangement at the airport the way it is, isn't a viable option.
He's likely going to have to decide within the next day or two to extend the perimeter around the airport and whether or not he's willing to send even more troops to provide protection.
I don't know of this is false bravado and the Taliban doesn't really intend to escalate, or not, but is that a gamble this administration is willing to take?

Sounds like it’s time for the Rangers to go into Bagram.
Airborne in Mazar Sharif, Jalalabad, Herat and Kandahar.
We should not be taking orders and be issued deadlines by the Taliban.
I am not pro war and wish we would get out, but not under these terms. If we tuck tail from the Taliban it will really hurt this country in the long run. We need to get out on our own terms.

So just to be clear, we’re currently living in an insane asylum. Biden’s Tweet about the Hurricane:
quote:
To those in Henri’s path: Don't forget that you may need to seek shelter while we’re still battling COVID-19 and the Delta variant. So wear a mask and try to observe social distancing.
And to everyone across the country, don't get caught by the next storm. Get vaccinated now.

What has happened us as a country? Better yet, what has happened to our elected officials? President Reagan wouldnt have put up with this shite. Neither would have Trump.

That’s exactly my point. I’m not sure why some people are having problems grasping this. After 20 years the US is on the verge of being completely out of Afghanistan. Why would they shoot down a plane and give us a reason to stay
While the Taliban may not claim credit for an attack on the exit such attack is a very high likelihood toward the end of the exit.
There are multiple reasons the talib would facilitate such an attack but the primary two are the serious credibility they would get in the region and the second or contributing reason is Biden will not go back over one plane. He simply won’t. The downside for the talib or a puppet group is no where near as high as you are hoping.

Yep.
The Air Force planes taking off aren't banging out flares for the hell of it.
They know someone on the ground can target a plane at any time.

I suggest you review what lead up to and happened in Benghazi.

I’m sorry, but Obama wouldn’t leave 15,000 US citizens and 85 billion dollars of equipment behind enemy lines. It’s something only someone who is severely mentally retarded would do. As Obama now immortally once said “Don't underestimate Joe's ability to frick things up.”
