If I’m not mistaken, we haven’t seen transport aircraft at #Kabul dropping flares until today — that’s a clear indication of concern about a surface-to-air missile threat…

If this is the case, and they are in a position where they have to drop flares, does that rule out the continued use of domestic aircraft for evac flights? Most of those planes won't have that capability, will they?

Wonderful.....

Now we are getting reports (albeit from a Syrian news source) that a large fire is burning in Kabul. That report says it started at a gas station, and has not been put out.

I will post any reliable reports I see.

Pentagon spokesman defends remarks that Kabul wasn't in 'imminent' danger of falling to Taliban

quote:

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby stood by his comments last week that Kabul was not in "imminent" danger even though two days later the Afghan capital collapsed into Taliban control.

Fox News' Lucas Tomlinson pressed Kirby during a Pentagon news conference Saturday about his statement on Aug. 13 that "Kabul is not right now in an imminent-threat environment."

"How could you get that so wrong?" Tomlinson asked.

Kirby explained that he was sharing the best information he had at the time while acknowledging the public "ridicule." He said the situation in Afghanistan changed "dramatically" two days later but his comments at the time were an "accurate" reflection of the Defense Department assessment.

"In the moment that I said it, based on what we knew at the time, it was a true statement," Kirby said Saturday. "And yes, two days later, things dramatically changed. I readily admit that things moved very, very quickly."

Kirby added that "there wasn't any indication …. that things could evolve as quickly as they did."

Biden had no choice but to resign a few days ago

I mean, I still don’t see his out here save for a heart attack or stroke. It’s getting bad enough where even the media isn’t taking any of his crap anymore. The only reason I think he’s not out is that they realize there’s no way people will fall in line with Kamala.

countless comparisons to this even will make 9/11 look small.

I don’t think it makes it look small, I just think it’s going to be worse when it’s all said and done. I think right now we’re at the crash into the first tower timeline wise. If I was present for the crash into the North Tower, and I immediately realized this was a terrorist attack since it’s a clear day and then realize they like to do these in numbers, and I said to another person “This is worse than Pearl Harbor” they’d likely write me off at the time. I just think once we leave and we see American beheadings is when the comparable South Tower is hit and Americans start to really understand where we are on the historical atrocities list.

U.S. Considers Ordering Commercial Airlines to Help in Afghan Evacuation

quote:

The Biden administration is making preparations to invoke an emergency civil aviation program, while adding to the number of U.S. bases that can house Afghan evacuees.

quote:

WASHINGTON—The Biden administration is planning a dramatic ramp-up of its airlift from Kabul by making preparations to compel major U.S. airlines to help with the transportation of tens of thousands of evacuees from Afghanistan while expanding the number of U.S. military bases that could house Afghans.

The White House is expected to consider activating the Civil Reserve Air Fleet, or CRAF, created in 1952 in the wake of the post-World War II Berlin Airlift, to provide nearly 20 commercial jets from up to five airlines to augment U.S. military efforts to transport Afghan evacuees from bases in the region, according to U.S. officials.

It goes on to say that those planes would not be flying into or out of the Kabul airport, but would be used to transport evacuated people from wherever they are dropped off.

The paywall wouldn't let me copy/paste that part.

Something really really bad is going on behind the scenes with this administration. This seems like it was all planned and is being done on purpose…

My father who years ago, in one of the most epic family Christmas dinners of all time, called Obama a communist and went on to call the Obama supporters in the family
communists.
Well, a few nights ago I was talking to my dad and he dropped this gem during the conversation:

“I can’t stand Obama and his policies, but I have to admit that I think Obama would have probably handled this better than Biden has. I don’t think we’d be scrambling to get our citizens out. But I still can’t stand the guy.”

I thought planes weren’t the issue. People in planes leaving I thought was the problem.

Why not. There are literally no negative consequences for doing it.

You’re saying if the Taliban brought down an aircraft carrying evacuating civilians that Biden, or any other nation, would not be completely obligated to launch a full retaliatory attack on them?

It’s a soap opera at this point. Victor Newman is about to swoop in and get involved.

This is all fiction, right? Because it feels like fiction…

Kamala Harris will campaign against the California Gavin Newsom recall. Here’s when

quote:

Vice President Kamala Harris is coming back to California to campaign on Gov. Gavin Newsom’s behalf in the recall election, Newsom’s office announced Friday.

Harris will join Newsom at a rally in the Bay Area on Friday, Aug. 27, to urge Californians to vote no on the recall against Gov. Newsom.

“I am excited to join my friend and our vice president next week,” Newsom said in a statement. “The stakes of this election couldn’t be higher.”

Harris’s Newsom campaign stop is planned for the return leg of her second foreign trip since taking office earlier this year. She is traveling to Asia Friday night, where she will be making stops in Singapore and Vietnam.

On the return trip, Harris will deliver remarks in Honolulu, Hawaii, to military service members at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, then continue on to California.
