Are you shitting me. She's going to Vietnam right now???

How the frick do these people not care what these optics look like? You plan a visit to Vietnam knowing full well that a Saigon-esque situation is extremely possible in Kabul?

To be fair, and I'm not at all defending the decision to go through with the trip, this SE Asia trip has been on the schedule for a while.

That said, I don't know how you don't postpone it given the current circumstances. That is politically tone-deaf, but that's not a surprise after what we've witnessed over the past week plus from whoever is running this Administration.

By that historical logic, we could blame this entire incident in 9/11.

It’s just not a good comparison. They’re both terrible and both very impactful but the longevity of the impacts clouds the comparison.

Here’s why I disagree. If we departed with all our civilians and equipment and it still fell apart like this, it doesn’t weaken us in the same way where we’d go “Well I guess that was inevitable. That sucks.” But this is just pure incompetence. Everyone knows this wouldn’t be happening to this degree if Trump or even Obama were in charge.

As Obama once (and I think now appropriately immortally) said: “Don't underestimate Joe's ability to frick things up.” I used to think Obama slightly threatened Biden into not running due to it being Hillary’s turn by saying “Joe, you don’t have to do this.” Now I think Obama was seeing his senility and knew he’d destroy the country, possibly even worse than he feared Trump would. So Obama was doing America a favor. There’s a reason he didn’t endorse him until he secured the nomination, which should have been a major red flag for everyone. Too bad he didn’t stay strong and endorsed him, because if he didn’t, then Trump would likely still be President, but I’m guessing the people actually in charge would have threatened his family if he didn’t endorse him.

Weren’t you saying something about Biden stepping down, Harris taking over, and Harris appointing Pence as her VP? Your entire existence on this site is being overdramatic no matter what the topic is on.

That was a bit of sarcastic dream scenario (I said DeSantis), and wish that would happen, but obviously it isn’t going to happen. It’s legally viable though and if they actually cared about this country they’d do it even if it’s not DeSantis and a more moderate Democrat. But no, they hate us and only care about power. So yes, it is a fantasy.

There's absolutely no way that this trip to Vietnam wasn't scheduled along with the Afghan departure scheduled as well.

All signs point to this scenario as not even being considered as a possibility. This administration might be the most incompetent in modern history.

Modern? This is worse than pre-Civil War administrations.

We were hesitant to go get Americans/Allies in Kabul because we had a "deal" with the Taliban. I think this administration was worried about a Mogadishu type issue.

We've known for days that foreign fighters and more extremists are coming up from the South.

Now there are reports that ISIS are planning attacks which NOW and ONLY now we are thinking about going outside of KHIA to get Americans/Allies in Kabul.

frick timing, amirite? Our enemies are reinforced and more dangerous and NOW we want to roll out and go get folks.

Man.

If I’m not mistaken, we haven’t seen transport aircraft at #Kabul dropping flares until today — that’s a clear indication of concern about a surface-to-air missile threat…

This is bc a lot of bridges have been burned with their low-level leakers as their networks have turned against them

Because we didn’t secure the city at the start, if we go out now, it will likely set off a violent sequence of events.

Not to mention, one explosion or gunshot could set this situation off.

This couldn’t be a worse situation.

OM doesn’t mean any harm, he’s just completely over emotional
He just loves to be as hysterical as possible like demanding that Biden had no choice but to resign a few days ago or countless comparisons to this even will make 9/11 look small.

We get it, the sky is falling

There’s a lot of different reason why they would be popping flares on take off. Could be taliban pointing weapons at them just to screw with them. No chance I’m hell the taliban would purposely bring down one of those aircraft.

Now another faction/foreign group, probably so.

BREAKING, thread:

The State Department has been hit by a cyber attack, and notifications of a possible serious breach were made by the Department of Defense Cyber Command.

quote:

It is unclear when the breach was discovered, but it is believed to have happened a couple weeks ago.

A source familiar tells Fox the State Department’s ongoing mission to evacuate Americans and allied refugees in Afghanistan “have not been affected”.
quote:

The extent of the breach, investigation into the suspected entity behind it, efforts taken to mitigate it, and any ongoing risk to operations remains unclear.

A DoS spox tells me:
quote:

“The Department takes seriously its responsibility to safeguard its information and continuously takes steps to ensure information is protected. For security reasons, we are not in a position to discuss the nature or scope of any alleged cybersecurity incidents at this time.”

Why not. There are literally no negative consequences for doing it.

Well, ol' Joe completely ignored any and all intelligence reports that contradicted his plan. That's not hyperbole, or partisan finger pointing, that's the reality that has been reported. It isn't a stretch that his (and his handler's) incompetence and hubris allowed them to fully believe that this whole deal would go off without a hitch, thus leading them to a "business as usual" outlook.

I 100% believe that is the case and they actually believed we wouldn't be in any kind of situation resembling what we are seeing.

Yeah, that report came out immediately following the IS threat report that closed the airport gates.
