The Taliban already is getting that Gulf money, to the tune that don't even need to control the poppy trade. There were talks in the Indian press that the Indian government should continue funding investment in the area, which was considerable, to prevent the Taliban from becoming a Pakistani proxy. China has expressed favorable sentiments to the Taliban as well. Thank the Gulf once again for playing both sides so well that no one even blames them for funding stuff.

Don't underestimate two decades and billions of dollars worth of training. Many members of the Afghan Army are now Taliban.
