Merkel sounds like she is saying HELL NAW to having Afghani's coming to live in Germany.
Also, Turkey is posturing that this is going to create a Humanitarian issue for all Mediterranean countries.

What's the most disarming thing Biden can do right now?
Come out and acknowledge the buck stops with him and he was wrong and we have to pick up the pieces, etc.?
I don't expect that, but it seems like anything else is going to be a net loss. But if I'm him, I'm probably just evading until the media establishment decides they've given me enough shite and starts providing cover.

He is going to follow the tried and true strategy:
Put it on others, most specifically the previous admin, and then say he got us out of this war that we have been in for 20 years and that's our top priority...
And then have the vast majority of the MSM spin it for him eventually so it doesn't fester.
And it'll likely work.
