After spending nearly two years in that shithole on two deployments in NE Afghanistan this is really hard to watch.
frick the money, it comes down to the lives lost for those of us that were over there.
I feel so bad for guys like yourself. My buddy deployed to Sangin in 2010 and his battalion had 25 KIA and over 180 wounded. All for nothing.

Biden's biggest mistake was not pulling every troop out of Afghanistan on day 1 of his administration.
If Obama didn't do that, ol' puddin' brain certainly wasn't going to do it.
Biden's biggest mistake was underestimating the Taliban forces that his intelligence forces were supposed to be monitoring. He let the bulk of our fighting forces leave and left the damn pencil pushers and "diplomats". As I've said, we've seen this movie before.

Should have rigged things to explode and left some remote detonating MOABs under the bases.

84% of the world’s opium comes from this place.
Nothing has changed. Their ‘mafia’ is still their mafia.

Like capitulation within hours type of bad.
This is my impression as well. A couple of folks I asked said it’s more of a mess than it seems. And it seems very bad. I pray they’re misinformed but I am not hopeful.
Those people cannot be negotiated with or bought with promises of aid and billions of dollars. They will take your money, cut off the heads of those whose lives you hoped you’d saved and then use the billions to buy bombs to blow up your cities.

Thousands of Americans and civilians dead, billions spent, and for what? Vietnam 2.0. This was going to happen as soon as the USA left and the powers at be knew it 20 years ago just like the current administration knew it 6 months ago. People like this can’t be reasoned with, it’s either scorched earth or just let them be and try to keep it contained.

I have no illusion that what we are seeing now, strictly in regards to how the Taliban has rolled through the country, would have happened under any administration. What I fault the Biden Administration with is the handling of the pullout in regards to our Embassy and the people who are not military combatants that still remain in the country. What is happening is not, or should not, be a surprise to anyone. We employ people to know these things, to track these things. The Biden Administration has failed terribly in the handling of this particular aspect of our withdrawal from Afghanistan. His administration's response, so far, has made us look weaker than I ever possibly could have thought. His announcing a two week vacation at this point in time is a slap in the face to a whole lot of people who are legitimately worrying for their safety tonight.

I agree. I also think that we forget why we were there in the first place… after 9/11 the majority of the US was pro - get them fukers. One of our major problems is sustainable hate for the enemy and willingness to see it out. A great many of our troops today were not around for 9/11 and many who were are now at to pasture. IMO our downfall was leaving enough Taliban alive to be able to take over. We’ve grown soft as a military power and the world knows it. We have the people and equipment but lack the support from those not wearing fatigues. Sure there is some short term support but these days that comes and goes depending on what MSM spins and TikTok. Really sad that we’ve come to this point. There will be another large scale terrorist attack on the US and we probably financed it. God help us

Its all over the news. The Taliban cut off the electricity supply to Kabul this afternoon and have the place surrounded. There is concern we will not be able to evacuate all of our people out now which is why the Biden Administration is in such a panic right now. Kabul is going to fall within the next 48 hours if not sooner

Left on an island surrounded by sharks and infested with snakes. I also feel for the Afgans who tried and will be executed along with their families. I don’t regret going there one bit, I regret staying there for 20 years and having it undone in less than a week. Japan is still our bitch bc we won that war without question. These fukers think they won and I’d have to agree

Americans left Russian helicopters behind???

Posted on 8/13/21 at 9:37 pm to Prog
We left enough but Russia surely isn’t helping the situation. It’s like the US is running for class president. Wear a cowboy hat, buttoned up Polo, FUBU pants, a trench coat, earring in the right ear, and take home EC seriously. Then when you get elected they all take turns beating you up and nobody has your back bc at the end of the day you stand for nothing.

We will probably start seeing airlift footage by the end of the weekend. All the western embassies are evacuating.

They'll surprise you given the fact that they will have plenty of US-trained Afghan military to take care of that stuff. I'm sure they learned plenty in the nearly two decades we trained them.
