The more things change the more they stay the same.
Pretty much shaking with rage and shedding a few tears for the Afghan nationals whose lives are now forfeit.
Horrible and shameful. Then and now.

Keep in mind I was pretty much raised by my German grandmother and am the guy who still says "Bayern", "Köln", and "München" even when I'm speaking English to other English speakers.

I think Soros knew this would happen. He can now ask for more military appropriations, and then move them to bring in more people crowding the Texas border.

our interventionism has an extremely poor track record and I doubt that’ll change anytime soon

But Lord knows the DoD made a fortune along the way so it’s all Gucci

Incredibly shitty situation with no good options after years of terrible decisions and wastes.

Weird feelings where I'm glad we are leaving and hate what is about to happen over there.

Obama and Biden caused the destruction of Syria. Now within months of Presidency Biden is going for round 2 to top Syria with the utter incompetency handling of Afghanistan

After spending nearly two years in that shithole on two deployments in NE Afghanistan this is really hard to watch.

Dude fricking stop. The middle eastern problems extend far past Obama, Trump, even Bush. None of them really helped it out but ever since the Ottoman Empire fell that place has been a shite show

But make no mistake, this is a crystal clear picture of how bad the US Army is. It's the shittiest branch of service that receives much more funding than the Marines.

Out of the main 4 branches, the Marines is the smallest branch. In fact, the number of active duty Marines would on only account for a third of the number active duty Army has. Also, the Army has more equipment and more bases (that are bigger). It’s not hard to figure out that more equals more money. I will agree that the military waste a shite ton of money but that is on the Pentagon and Capital Hill.

Also, every branch is shitty in different aspects. No branch is perfect including the Marines.

I don’t care what Trump did or did not do. He’s not in charge anymore. I care about the current administration and leadership at all levels. They’re failing at all levels. If you can’t see this, you’re not very bright.

Man I saw where 3k marines and soldiers are heading there to help with the evacuation. But I also heard that the 82nd and some artillery are going as well. That’s some real firepower. I’m thinking things on the ground there are WAY worse than what’s being let on.

Like capitulation within hours type of bad.

I'm just saying, the same thing would be happening regardless of if your guy or the other team's guy was in the WH.

So stupid.

We should not have left any thing there. Bring it all back or drop it into the ocean half way back.

I would have bulldozed any buildings and dug up the runways. Everyone knew the Afghans were incapable of protecting themselves, but I will admit that the quickness that they ran away was impressive. The French used to be the butt of jokes but the Afghans hold the title of quickest to surrender now.

Actually I would have supported nuking the bastards and never putting a single boot on the ground. Colossal waste of lives, limbs, and money.

In 1994 I spent a couple weeks in Karachi Pax, All of the parks and open areas were filled with refugee Afgans. The refugees again will overwhelm Pax with huge human deprivation. Pax will again be threatening to use its nuclear arsenal against someone unless many billions are provided to help with the situation. If schools taught real history there might be an opportunity to avoid repeat.

Also one can now buy a smart car that will come across town to pick you up without a human inside. Should not all American vehicles have a smart function to turn into a brick if captured by the bad guys. Be easy to hit a button and have it overspeed and self destruct . Where is the reknowned military design team.

The US embassy has been ordered to destroy sensitive materials.

The end is near.

The United States supported the Mujahideen in the 1970's and 1980's. You reap what you sow. Another glaring example of America's psychotic interventionist foreign policy gone wrong.

Every politician in this country the last 70 years whose name isn't Robert Taft, Ron Paul or Rand Paul is an absolute pawn of the American war machine. On the right you have neocons and on the left you have neoliberals. Both of these factions have an almost religious-like belief that an interventionist foreign policy is a good thing. Biden's biggest mistake was not pulling every troop out of Afghanistan on day 1 of his administration. We should never have been there in the first place.
