You're getting downvoted and I'm sure I'll get downvoted too but you are absolutely correct. I'm no democrat and I would put more blame on Bush than Biden.

The withdrawal is entirely on Biden and the military strategists in place now. We absolutely botched this.

And we have radio silence from the WH, Pentagon, and even the press secretary at the moment.

boy these statements drive me up the fricking wall. They stole an election, produced millions upon millions of fraudulent ballots harvested, flat out changed votes in the dominion system and you still go yapping about "if he did X, he'd had won the election" type bullshite statement.

my local ABC affiliate in Houston didn’t cover it until 35 minutes into the broadcast. We got 3 weather updates, endless COVID coverage, mask mandates debate talk, and 15 minutes of the crisis in Haiti before spending a 3 minute segment on what is taking place in Afghanistan.

Good to know the media is doing their part in covering this colossal frick up.

I spoke with ihometiger this morning and he talked to execs at his former company who said the situation unfolding at the airport and outside the airport is in their words totally "FUBAR". He said they told him there were at least 7 people killed at the airport this morning and 1 US Army soldier wounded. There was also a solider from Mali who was killed yesterday at the airport along with a few others.

He said they told him the situation is getting worse and worse by the hour and the crowd is growing increasingly agitated. His former execs are in a safe house in Kabul but can't leave but they are armed to the teeth and hoping to get out via helicopter in a few days best case scenario.

Nah, just give me straight juice, no need to water it down.

I'm all about Trump giving it to us straight.

I do think he comes off as petty all the time, and to me that sounds weak, not strong. Desantis is coming close to mastering the sound bite that is strong and bold without sounding like an egomaniac just trying to protect his brand.

Regardless, he's not changing so it's useless to discuss.

Pretty obvious the US media is owned by some hybrid corporate/government entity. Probably one Oligarch in particular.

He does. He really needs someone to sanitize his statements.

He's not wrong, but it comes off as just sour grapes.

This has been his biggest challenge since the beginning. Him speaking his unfiltered thoughts is what got him elected, but also ended up being his downfall in my opinion. I can't tell you how many people I've talked to that said they liked him because he talked like they did.

Yep. I watched about 2 hrs of it yesterday. I think it clocked in at around 90 minutes of news and new segments before they started repeating content (interviews, etc.)

Which by American media standards is amazing. Of course, it involved no yelling, little makeup, no hot women, few cool graphics and few references to Trump, so clearly Americans would hate it.

I shite you not. A CNN reporter on the ground said They’re just chanting death to America but they seem friendly at the same time. Just imagine if Fox said about the people marching in Charlottesville “They're just chanting Blood and Soil and Jews will not replace us, but they seem friendly at the same time.” This is way worse than that.

Look, im not going to speculate on shite that may or may not be true. Im simply saying that IMO, he would've been unbeatable had he just put a filter between him and the public.

It was definitely going to be ugly regardless. Some of the stuff that's been said over and over is obvious, get non military people out, seems like an obvious thing to do but not to Biden. From what I've seen from international reporting and such was there was 0 coordination with Afghan military and we just simply left. They were saying the Afghan military needed time to withdraw more troops from the desert and bring them to the major cities and also be correctly armed and that didn't happen. Doesn't matter, at some point those major cities still would have fallen but may have bought some time. No matter the situation, you can't leave 1,000s of non military in after removing actual military, then go oooops, and on top of that, don't even address the nation.

I was at the US embassy Iraq post withdrawal when ISIS was taking over the country and encircling Baghdad. Fortunately, Iraqi military had will to resist. Could have gone south fast and we knew it. Last thing they were gonna do is pull us out embassy. It would have emboldened adversary and precipitated defeat. (Actually moved non-essentials to Kuwait just after I rotated out) They waited until a firm resistance was established to move personnel. Same tactic here looks like it hasn't worked out so well.

Same thing they did with the boarder blitz and horrific conditions down there at the start of the administration. This is apparently what they do. It's twice now. Things get real. They get silent.

I agree, it's just his personality. It's either cringy comments sometimes or a complete shitshow of a president. The people got what they wanted.

Most of Baghdad is Shia muslim, which is what most Iraqi soldiers are. ISIS is mostly Sunni (I'm aware you know all this). Mosul, which is mostly Sunni city fell pretty quick in Iraq after mostly Shia soldiers fled. As far as Afghanistan, Taliban, Kabul citizens and Afghan military are pretty much all Sunni.
