You're close...the disagreement is on whether or not it's actually a spade.

Personally, for example if someone called a car a spade I'd laugh

It’s no surprise since basically every policy progressives conjure up results in the loss of human life.

So if you, your wife and kids were sleeping and a burglar broke into your house, you’d simply call the police and wait?!

Absolute apples to oranges man.

If we were sleeping two blocks over and my doorcam went off, I'd 100% call the police before I barged in guns blazing.

...and that's your decision. Others might and maybe should make a different decision. We don't all live in the suburbs.

Some OnlyTrumpFans were attacking DeSantis for passing that bill in Florida that protected home owners from squatters and couldn't understand why DeSantis would do that.

Well...maybe this is the reason? Being proactive is much better than reactive.

This is Texas. Go in armed. Say they threatened you. You are on your own property and have no duty to flee. Stand your ground and put them in it.

If I leave and come back and you're in my house, you have about 5 seconds to get the frick out. There will be no police, no lawyers, no evictions.

Here in Trinidad you just call the police and tell them someone broke into the house.

Police show up, he says he has a lease, police dont care they simply ask for your national ID, if the address on it is yours and his is not....he goes to jail one time.

You can only get a national ID if you show up with proof you live there ie bank statement, power water phone bill.

Since there is no national ID in 3rd world US, cop could easily do the same, screw the "lease" show me bills that you live there, one can and the other cant, take em to jail.

The thread is titled "Squatter breaks in and sells most everything in the house while owner is away"

You conveniently ignore that because you have no cogent response to this bullshite that keeps happening. "At least the homeowner wasnt killed" would have been better.

Nobody has a cogent response. That's why it's been a problem for decades without any solutions being discovered.

This is a battle between not only due process, but the government agents permitted to engage in due process. People get emotional about the situation and lose rationality and shed the ability to see the totality of their proposed solutions.

And it's weird that you seize on this comment in a discussion tree about emotional meltdowns being called for what they are, yet you try to extrapolate that into the larger argument...for...reasons.

homeowners getting murdered by squatters might cause an emotional response. Propose a solution for her.

Murder and squatting are 2 different things.

They're fugitives who will be prosecuted for murder.

Nobody is defending murder, so I have no clue why you're trying to interject it into this discussion.
