Ours actually went up during covid/2020 and 2021, and attendance is back to pre covid levels on the reg, but it seems 2022 will look much different.

I’m sure this is something the libtards would love tho, to see churches go under bc the congregation can’t afford to tithe

Church with or without tithing will never die, my brother. I'm not religious, but even if a church shuts down the great commission never dies. People that are called will never let anything stand in their way.

When times worsen, people lean in on God more and more. You'll get more people when fear and need climb.

It is easily demonstrated that morality exists prior to religion and then is applied to it. Hence why there is so much variation in religious interpretation.

Sure, but in this scenario we’re discussing the religious persons view of the world AFTER the fact. We’re not talking about how religion developed.

On an individual level MANY people would lose all hope if it was somehow demonstrable their beliefs were wrong.

I bet in person attendance is down

The big seeker churches are getting wrecked. North Point in Atlanta is down 40% in attendance. Willow Creek had a double whammy in the pandemic and Hybels admitting to sexually harassing women. They’re down 50%.

Luckily our educational system has finally become advanced enough to illustrate believing in mystical space fairies is not a logical thought process.

This is hilarious. “Non-religious” people don’t stop believing in mystical things. They just shift their beliefs to mystical things like astrology. Or Marxism.

This is unfortunately very true

Anyone who says “lol Jonah couldn’t have survived inside a fish” but believes men can get pregnant doesn’t have a leg to stand on. I’m always dismayed by the number of non-believers who will, without batting an eye, defend nonsensical left wing ideology.

Truth. Another one has sold three campuses (one with ZERO notice to those attending) and a lot of its real estate holdings that it had during good times.

A congregation that used to fill up a 4K seat sanctuary five times a weekend, now (literally) curtains off most of its seating and if it has 1.5K per service I would call that a stretch.

(I won't give them any publicity after how they treated me and my SO)

EDIT: Just checked their website, a fourth one they used to have is also no longer listed as an active campus. Things are really going bad for them.

Or “values”, or “meaning”. Values and meaning that don’t exist outside their imagination, which is exactly what they scoff at theists for. It’s the ultimate cognitive dissonance.

Why is there a whole different word for giving/donating money to a church?

Thankful I was raised Catholic so I don’t have to be told to give 10%

Wait. Are there really whole populations of people who give 10% of their income to their church? That is what is taught? No wonder Eli Gemstone is so rich.

I would argue that even if you’re non-religious, you should be donating a minimum of 5% of your income to good non-profits.

If you can’t, you’re probably pretty selfish.

I love The Lord and people. I’ve often wondered why we as a human race can’t live together in peace (even with varying views). This thread is a shining example on where we are on this planet.
