That’s sort of law does not confer “rights” upon a fetus. It punishes the behavior of the wrongdoer for actions inconsistent with good public order.

But it treats the murder of the mother and the murder of the unborn child the same.

Your analogy is all wrong.

I'm with Foo here, how do you get to a right to privacy to a right to an abortion?

The solution is for the legislature to impeach and remove them from office for failure to faithfully execute their duties.

Sounds like they need to amend their state constitution at this point.

Or, just replace their elected justices. Or even recall them, if SC law allows it.

Why is this so hard to understand? Someone needs to ask Lindsey.

That just tells me you only understood about half of the objection to Roe. Maybe less than half.

If a pregnant female is murdered in South Carolina and the baby in the womb dies the SC prosecutor can only charge i countof murder, unless the mother has made her pregnancy public, right?

Uh, why not? It's their right.

Also, the language of the different constitutions are different.

Fine. Then let the legislatures codify it. For that matter, I’d say the same thing at the federal level.

A court using “privacy” as a cloak for something the legislature doesn’t explicitly enable is a weak and slippery slope.

I'd rather be a "simpleton" than support murder.

Being for states’ rights doesn’t mean you stop advocating for states to ban barbarism

But the "states rights" angle becomes completely irrelevant if your real goal is absolute prohibition of abortion.

Why if there is a state constitutional provision?

I've met countless abortion zealots.

Most end up whining or crying after being dismantled by our conversation.

They all live in a bubble of stupid.

I may be absolutely oversimplifying this, but isn't the crux of the issue not if the act is private but rather if it's life or not?

If you have the right to an abortion due to privacy, why can't I "privately" kill any other person?

Telling them how past legislatures screwed up and how the current one can fix this. Time to rewrite part of the State Constitution. I suspect that the issue will be prioritized.
