If this POS was going to QUIT, then she should have QUIT earlier so someone else could have the place she occupied on the TEAM.

No one knows what any other person is going through.

She probably doesn’t feel like trying considering no one is watching the Olympics and everyone is bashing all the athletes why would you want to play for a country that treats you like that?

The Olympics are meaningless, they mean absolutely nothing so I imagine a lot of people don’t really give a shite, including the athletes. It’s a nothing story.

I think the very fact that she quit shows that no matter how strong you are, no matter how fast you are, No matter how celebrated of a superstar you are your brain and your mind are fragile. You can be the healthiest physical specimen but your mind can be an absolute mess.

The world is filled with so much hatred and negativity, try not to add to it.

Would one of the alternates fill in for Biles? That's what they are there for...right?

No. There were four athletes on the team. 3 compete in each of the four events. Biles was supposed to complete in all four events with the rest competing in one or two events that they are best at.

Biles did the vault and withdrew after she tanked it. At that point competition started, you don’t get to bring in a fifth person/alternate because a team member is having a bad night. It forced the remaining three girls to do events they weren’t planning on doing and all three complete in the three remaining events..

They stepped up and got silver. But I’m sure if USA gymnastics knew she would quit, they would have planned who was doing what events and trained very differently.

Plus, only three girls got to complete when it’s a team sport of 4. She took someone’s spot for sure.

Yes, we’re the Americans you’re supposed to be there representing. Olympians and politicians seem to keep missing this part.

Such a stupid analogy. Opting out of a meaningless Independence Bowl to avoid injury and possibly jeopardizing generational wealth is totally different than quitting during the olympics. The latter is more akin to quitting right before the CFP or the Super Bowl.
nope. Both are a quitters mindset and should be treated as such

Can’t refute anything I say so you resort to name calling. Pathetic.

Remember when the US olympic team cut ties with Michael Phelps for a while and he was condemned by everyone despite being America's most celebrated athlete....all over him taking a single bong hit? Just another example of that white male privilege. If you are black you can be a meth-head junkie violent criminal and they will give you a gold coffin, and if you abandon our country's olympic team and leave them high and dry they will give you a silver medal. I don't have anything against biles though, she is a top athlete who has earned many medals for america. At that point, I dont think anyone can say anything or hate on her...her or phelps. It is the double standard that is outrageous

Are you really waiting for someone to refute your claim that the Olympics are meaningless for the athletes?

I have no problem with Biles quitting. She has her reasons, and we probably don't know what they are. Judgement free.

She explained that her mental game was way off and was affecting her physical performance.

She thought that she was harming her team more than she would be helping them.

I have no problem with her taking a back seat in order to help her team.

If she stayed in, then it is very likely the team would not have even medaled. She was that off in her performance.

I see it as doing what was best for the team.

A quitter would not have came back out from the locker room and cheered her teammates on.

She even said that this Silver medal was the most special medal to her because the team won it when she was unable to contribute in a positive manner and gave them all the credit.

Bring on the down-votes

Isn't quiting/surrendering the exact opposite of bravery?

I'm sure all the praise that has been heaped on her for being the greatest athlete at the games messed with her head. Sounds like she couldn't handle the pressure of being the leader any longer.

4 competitors, lowest score in each event dropped correct? If that’s the case how was it hurting the team? All of her scores received an initial bump due to difficulty of routine, so all she had to do was “put one in the fairway” for the team. Am I wrong here; did the low scores for the teams not get dropped in the finals?

All I know is I watched Kerri Strug in 1996, and for people to even consider Biles in the same category of bravery and somehow being the GOAT is a complete joke and shows how jacked up the media's message to the public has become.

We just blame mental illness every time we fail now. What an insult to people that have actual tangible chronic mental illnesses
