Imagine winning a gold medal and getting a personal invite from trump to attend his sotu in recognition of your achievements, and replying nah bro already got plans. Fire me if you want but I’m going.
This. If I’m an Olympic champion—or NFL/NCAA whatever and I get invited to the WH, I’m going. I’m shaking POTUS’ hand and drinking that in.
I don’t care if the love child of a Hillary Clinton -Epstein-Obama orgy is POTUS with Nikita Khruschev’s ghost as VP.
You don’t turn down a WH invite (or SOTU but they’re a package deal in this instance).

This sounds exactly like an answer my wife and her friends give each other [all women really] … The idea of having a flexible schedule does not compute with them. The literally can’t function if plans call for going with the flow.
quote:This is a very reasonable declination. The women’s team roster is about half pro players and half college players. The ones still in college have already missed 3 weeks of class and the pro players have their league resuming and need to get back to their teams. The statement seems was respectful in the declination and mentioned it was an honor to be invited, so it seems like the door would be open to accept an invite at a later time.
"Due to the timing and previously scheduled academic and professional commitments following the Games, the athletes are unable to participate. They were honored to be included and are grateful for the acknowledgment."
The NHL players have their season resuming Wednesday and Thursday too, but their NHL teams can afford to get them back from DC on private jets quickly after their visit.

Trump should tell the press:
"I'm glad they decided to not visit with me because they seem like a group of very bitter and unhappy women, and, I certainly don't want to expose my family to that kind of mental disorder. I certainly have better things to do with my time than to socialize with female athletes, who probably would lose a hockey game to a good team from a boy's high school, in fact, I know they would, because it's been proven time and time again that you can take any championship female team in any major sport, pit them against a good male high school team, and the ladies would lose. I'm not trying to be controversial here, I'm just stating the facts."

I'm sure they can find someone else to do the housekeeping.

The women’s players don’t have the same access to private jets and charters that the men’s team do given the economic realities of their sport vs the men’s game

My favorite president was Reagan. If he was president now, and invited me to SOTU, I would politely decline because otherwise I’d have to fly to Washington DC, stay in a hotel, take ride shares all over town, and fight crowds and security.

I don't wanna hear a fricking word from women about "equal pay" in sports. They have a golden opprotunity to promote Women's Hockey and they want to play politics. Instead of going with your male counterparts, displaying your gold medals as a unified team, and trying to get as much out of this victory as you can to promote the sport and national pride, they choose to sit out because of politics. Some women are stupid.

How are they supposed to get to DC? Should they have to do it on their own dollar?

lol. Did Trump even invite them? I know he invited the men.
Must be strange be be the dude players looking at these feminist chicks that talk about equality yet still wear full face masks in Olympic hockey.
It is so much easier to breath without that front mask no one in their right mind would wear in unless you are vain or there is a rule in place to “protect” you fragile women.
Butthurt bitches.
They secretly were rooting for the men to lose. Fact.

No, but I don’t want to get involved in that. And celebrity status doesn’t move me much - a little, just not much.

End women’s suffrage. Just like we don’t yet youngsters buy beer and cigarettes, or why we have to take the keys away from our 90 year old grandmas… it’s for their own good and the good of society.

Half of the women’s team roster is made up of college players. They’ve already missed 3 weeks of the semester and have to get back for class and their NCAA team that’s in season right now.
The other half of the roster plays in the women’s pro league, which paused their season while the Olympics were going on, but now they have to get back to their teams because those games are resuming.
The men’s roster doesn’t have college players and even though the NHL season is resuming tomorrow, those guys and their NHL teams have the means to charter private flights back to rejoin their team as soon as their White House visit is over. The economics of the women’s game doesn’t provide the means to charter private jets, so they’re at the mercy of commercial flight schedules that aren’t already sold out on short notice.

There is a women’s professional hockey league? I had no idea.
