Should election days be a national holiday?

So people can pay attention to who is being elected where and what the political landscape looks like?

I think Australia shuts everything down on Election Day and I believe it’s against the law not to vote. Pretty over the top and I think it would be real hard to idle refineries and such for 24 hours.

It may give the people who work and pay taxes and equal footing with those who sit at home.

Good lord. It amazes me how so many arguments over voting are premised on "Election Day" being the only opportunity to vote.

Early voting and absentee ballots give everyone a chance to plan their logistics.

I am constantly amazed at the ability of people to blame others for situations where just the slightest planning and effort would have made all the difference.

Yes, and do away with early voting. No excuses for not voting on election day if you're off.
