All I can say is most of these people are just flapping their gums because they are not responsibility for carrying out the punishment. If they had to look the family in the eye while telling them their son’s life was over because he broke into a car they would not be so tough.

And it’s clear they don’t know anyone who has been involved with the criminal justice system. They aren’t all child rapists.

If Cubbies “victim” in this were named Austin instead of Sadik, she would not have started this thread.

I started a thread last week about a white man who is serving life in Oregon.

This is accurate but also frightening. We should always question all “authority” and every law.

This is coming from the same group of people that compared mask mandates to fascist Germany.

Prosecute him for the crime he actually committed.

OK.

Let's make an adjustment in the law.

If you surrender peacefully and confess to what you did, anything you are then insulated from any acts your accomplices do from that point on.

While I would admit that tjis is certainly more complex than initially appearing...

quote:

Putting away people for life for breaking into a car. JFC you people are retarded.

At the same time - they took the risk of breaking into the car because the current laws were not enough to deter them.

People commit crimes because they don't fear the punishment. Every single action we take - crime or not - is based on some assessment of risk. Our justice system should be built to deter crime and reward good moral compasses and actions.

And we all know if he would have been successful - police would have never followed up on it - I'm speaking as someone who has had a car break in and the response from the Police was "Tough luck." It's ALL messed up.

And same people who brag about openly defying gun laws (which they should).

The punishment for breaking into a car is not life without parole. That’s the issue here.

And I’m 100% convinced the more dire threat to American values lies not with someone who would steal your floor mats but with the tyrant who would imprison another for life for the crime.

The thing is that many here support this law. It's also a really simple law to avoid. Just don't commit a crime especially a crime where this is the potential outcome.

It isn't a law that punishes innocent people unlike say Civil Asset Forfeiture which is closer to fascism as CAF could be seen as guilty until proven innocent.

Also, lol at you think a mask mandate and a punishment for a crime are on the same level

The imprisoned isn’t going to jail for life for stealing Kia floormats, he is going away for his part in facilitating the talking of a life of a man out riding his bicycle.

Be a good human. Be accountabl.

Sadik wasn’t being a good human. His actions resulted in the death of a good human. He can no longer be allowed to live with other good humans.

I mean, you're wrong... but whatever.

And he didn't get sentenced to life for stealing floor mats, did he? You can water it down all you want, but he didn't get sentenced to life for stealing floor mats.

Ever get a DUI? That’s way more dangerous than what this person did. Life without parole!

You people are just talking shite because you think being tough on crime is what alphas do.

It’s laughably transparent. And dim witted. Virtue signaling for conservatives.

You’re correct. He was sentenced for a crime someone else committed miles away while he was in police custody. Does that make the sentencing any more just?
