Problem for them is that, if they take down Trump, the whole party goes with them.
Trump has something like a 97% approval rating from party members right now. Stabbing him in the back pretty much guarantees the party dies and they are no longer at the table. They won’t even get scraps if they are an extreme minority to the Dems.

If it was a secret ballot Donald would have been gone after Mueller wrote a book on his criminal obstruction of justice.

The whole notion of a possible secret ballot being floated is the dead giveaway that none of this has anything to do with what Trump may or may not have done. It’s all about overturning the results of a legitimate election.

no.
No such thing.

Nobody is talking about what the D senators will do. Joe Manchin and Doug Jones, for starters, would catch all kinds of hell from their constituents for removing. I could easily see both of them jumping off the impeachment train to try and salvage their re-election hopes.

I'd imagine that any vote made in both chambers of Congress are by law or rule a matter of public record.

There's a rebuttal, let's see if he's smart enough to get it.
Of course the problem is I'm ready to blow up the possible rebuttal.

It is very telling that a liberal would even THINK something else was an option

They want a secret ballot!?
Just pathetic
McConnell should slap it down as soon as he gets it.
"This has zero chance of succeeding. We've wasted enough time on this. This impeachment farce is over."
*bang really hard with some oversized gavel*

It's just funny
Think about what liberals want here.
They want the people WE voted for as OUR Representatives.........to be able to keep how they vote secret from us.
That's just sad

I actually hope this happens
It'll speed up the tipping point where people have had enough

Calling BS. You're a Republican and you vote to impeach, you're dead meat.
Even if they did a secret ballot, which I don't believe they can, it would leak, and sayonara. Especially Sasse, who is probably in a primary fight.

I kindly disagree. Romney and Turtle care more about their backdoor deals. Romney owns Utah politics he isn't worried but you can bet he and Turtle have a deal readied
You are overthinking it. There is no way Mitch is going to play games with this. Absent something shocking coming out, no R will vote to convict based on the sham proceeding so far.

The Governors get to appoint senators and representatives on an interim basis if a congressman resigns.
And when those GOP gov’s appoint a never trumper to the senate as Kemp just did in GA?

And just playing along with this scenario, it would be pretty obvious what happened when folks took a gander at the voting results and noticed certain Senators didn't appear on the list.

Senator Murphy is still having Jeff Flake wet dreams.

The sadder part is that these "public servants" find no problem with it. They think they have a right to do it for "the greater good" that us peons simply can't understand.?
