It's intentional and the bolded part is the desired outcome. Can't have a revolution if people are content and living good lives.

I agree, but individual cities can't wage a revolution and they already played their hand with Floyd-style riots. No one cares if they burn anymore. At worst, they drive their own city to implosion, which would hurt their national cause.

I don't think jail/prison is the way to treat addiction initially, or maybe even the 2nd time. But, eventually consequences are faced, especially those in public disregarding safety & common decency.

Rehab & counseling didnt work the first few times, off you go. Be a junkie in prison.

I'm for giant fenced in open air drug compounds. You sign your life away and get free drugs. Basically a free-range prison, but you get all the drugs you want.

The drugs themselves are actually cheap, when you take the black-market aspect out.

I may know you - I worked with a good friend at NASA back in the day - and this was his solution to the 'drug problem' even back in the '70s!!

His version was = "FREE COCAINE" - run by the govt - the fine print says that once you go in you cannot get out until you are completely sober for period of time - but while you are in, you get all you want free of charge.

We need to curtail federal $$ to programs there that their policies are working against the stated goals of said program dollars. Socialism only works with someone else's money.

No, not me. But your friend sounds like a smart guy.

There is nothing wrong with letting people kill themselves, or ruin their own lives. But there must be protections for the rest of the populace.

Law-abiding citizens cannot be collateral damage to the mayhem.

In fairness, I attended a conference there in 2022 and you had to step over the guys doing heroine on the sidewalks a block away from Pike's Place Market. No one seemed to be too concerned about it then.

If I were the mayor I would instruct the police to arrest the pushers and their suppliers.
Life in prison for the pushers and suppliers.

Then the junkies/ addicts would have to migrate to where the suppliers exist.

Problem mostly solved.

Seattle's new ultra-woke mayor has triggered chaos by ordering police not to arrest people doing drugs on the streets of the city plagued by crime and homelessness.

Democratic socialist Katie Wilson, 43, was sworn in as the city's 58th mayor on Friday.

The progressive politician who co-founded the Transit Riders Union has already taken steps that concerned residents and law enforcement officials say will destroy Seattle.

Wilson demonstrated her soft-on-crime ideology by demanding cops let public drug use slide - a practice that proved disastrous in the past - according to the Seattle Police Officers Guild (SPOG).

'The recent naive, ignorant political decision to not arrest offenders for open drug use in the City of Seattle is horrifically dangerous and will create more death and societal decay,' SPOG President Mike Solan wrote in a statement on Sunday.

'It embodies an enormous flaw in those in our community who think that meeting people where they are, who are in the throes of addiction, is the correct path to lift them up.'

Solan, who leads the union representing all 1,300 members of the Seattle Police Department (SPD), slammed the policy as 'suicidal empathy.'

F that bitch... The law is the law and officers are tasked with enforcing the law. She doesn't like people being arrested for breaking the law, she needs get to work getting new laws passed. Until then, her commie retard arse can STFU.

Police Chief either needs to lead a coup there or instruct all of his officer to ignore every single directive from this lady, any call from City Hall and from the Mayor’s house. Make them suffer.
