He’s got a couple of outs with this response of course.
We had information… meaning that’s what he was told.
There was a game in ATL that night. Friday. If he was in Atlanta that night & did attend a Hawks game, that tracks. The only NBA game that night? There were 9 others, but only one played in Atlanta.
Not sure why he then goes on to talk about being a fan of college sports.. comes off as a typical politician talking about things just to hear himself speak.

He made a huge mistake. Didn’t verify anything and went off half cocked.

Why does Atlanta matter? There was no evidence Smith was in Atlanta
Schmitt and his team were trying to find evidence to support a narrative that Smith was in Atlanta. This evidence did not exist because Smith was not, in fact, in ATL. However, Schmitt and his team tried to construct a false narrative around bad evidence, which is why they look like retards today.
What's worse is the arrogance prior to the retardation being revealed. This makes it exponentially worse.

These hearings are just political marketing at this point. Schmitt made sure that this was a catastrophe for Republicans.

The grand jury indictments in Florida are worth a lot more politically for a low-IQ win than prosecuting Smith would be.

Just stop. Look at the texts. There's nothing in there to indicate it was an NBA game.
He Schmitted by omitting the time of the texts. That's to imply that it had to be the Hawks game...even though there were FIVE other NBA games that evening...because the Hawks game was the only one that started at 7:30.
The texts concerned the Maryland/Iowa game that started at 8:00. The Bulls game that night was the only NBA game that started at 8:00.
So even pretending Schmitt isn't lying through his teeth, the logical inference would be that Smith was in Chicago...colluding with Willis.
The whole thing is an insult to honest people.
