I would argue that our society and culture no longer align with the EU

The western hemisphere strengthening of ties and rooting out the political problems in these countries IS the answer to the migration problem. It always infuriated me that the answer from the left is granting politcal asylum to anyone and everyone from these areas because of the state of their home countries. No calls to assist these countries politically and financially with their biggest issues so that their people would WANT to stay home. Meanwhile, they are just fine with spending billions for a proxy war with Russia via Ukraine, and "saving palestine". This is how I am 100% certain that these people are brainwashed and do not really "care" as much as they put on.

I don't know if it's going to happen, but if Rubio and/or Vance win, and perhaps before then, that message probably needs to get out -

- It can't just be about stalling out immigration and deporting, it has to be about investing and making these states secure and a productivity counterpart (or continuing, as the case may be).

- And some of that will involve some managed level of migration.

I hope he challenges Vance in 28.

I think he'd be a good president, but he's not very good at running for president.

We could have brought back W for that.

The reality is they're good counterparts.

We need the Vance/Miller school of thought to become a mainstay in American politics if we're going to have a meaningful state to sustain. We're not going to have the resolve to confront the issues in the coming century (or at least confront them well) if American citizens get the vapors and squirm when asked if they're more American than the migrant who showed up last week.

This just seems like an incredible devolution back a few generations would be necessary to make this palatable.

This is more a comment for the 1890s than the 2020s

We can do trade all throughout the Americas. They can play by the same rules as the rest of the international community. It’s the anti-EU sentiment that is confusing.

I've been a big proponent in investing in CA/SA to make them evolve economically, but even if that plan went swimmingly, it will take a few generations until they're rich enough to help us on the level of a Europe or East Asia.

Look at a comparable example like Taiwan. It took, what, 50 years? 70? To get a high enough SOL/PCGDP?

Poor countries cannot sustain our economy as consumers.

I'm not specifically anti-EU.

You have to explain to those promoting this what their SOL will be like, living like plebs from the 1890s

You think that matters? National-building primitive cultures will work, it’s just that the right person hasn’t tried it yet?

This will shed more of the still-devoted MAGA group. It may be an overall winner because neo-cons will LOVE IT, but I think that’s a tough sell for MAGA.

I mean, they won't. But yeah, it's entirely possible that within our lifetime the concept of the truly disposable 75 inch TV (or some equivalent) will go away. Timing aside (I claim no crystal ball), that's probably a good case version of the fallout.

But it's not about promotion of a policy so much as an appreciation that some version of this is probably happening anyway and we're trying to set a 50+ year course to avoid the worst impacts of it.

I don't think it's fair to talk about Afghanistan and Bolivia in the same way as projects.

Dont forget what went down a little over a year ago. America spoke loud and clear and just beacuse the media and tictok bots are syaing views are changing, they are not.

Dont let the noise get to you.

This wasteland future you have in mind sounds bleak man. Flesh it out. Write a novel. Maybe something good comes from it.
