DeSantis comes off as a genuinely nice guy. My only reservation about his is I feel like he may just be a Uniparty candidate that won’t actually change anything. He screams career politician.

Take it down a notch or two, big guy. You probably weren’t even aware that Reagan was first a Democrat before he switched to Republican. Not that that diminishes the esteem in which I hold him, but there’s usually something in existence out there that tends to throw a little water on such bold assertions.

If you look up “used car salesman” a pic of DJT appears. He is the quintessential “used car salesman”. I’m just to the point that the overwhelming majority of people that vote are dumb.

Oh I see. Now Ron is who we need to lead the country because he handled a planned pandemic better in one small state.

Ron was managing one state full of retirees and snowbirds. POTUS Trump was managing the world while being hammered day in and day out by those who wanted him gone.

Trump will remove the villains now that they are in the light. Ron and his wife would just ry to get along.

Yes I'm aware.

And everything Desantis has said and done as Governor of Florida is in line with the same sort of conservatism your parents knew or you knew as a kid.

This frickin' guy has walked the walk and talked the talk from day one but because the MAGA bitter enders want the Onion Loaf back in office, for no other reason than the middle finger. We'll all end up with Gavin Newsom, his hair product and a wave of unapologetic progressivism that will alter the very DNA of this country.

Conservativism in this country is all but dead. Donald Trump and his failed attempt to regain the White House will utterly kill it.

Donald Trump will never be President of the United States again but if he gets the nomination, neither will a true conservative.

Hanging with Dems that hate America. What’s the goal? Alignment with people that will only vote Dem?

I’m not player hating here, alls I’m saying is that the very bold assertion you were making immediately has some flawed reasoning behind it, thus appears to be a bit over the top due to a knee jerk type response. Desantis is not the Conservative torchbearer you and others insist he is, and at the same time Trump isn’t the anti-Conservative as similarly insisted. The realistic and accurate truth of the matter is more in a grey area than many of us want to understand and deal with. As is the case with pretty much everything else in life.

Of course Ron was excellent - he crushes every interview he does.

He is sharp and for his awkward as he can be, still comes off as very genuine. He’s got what it takes to be president IMO. But…

But if people want to vote for the 78 year old who is starting to show signs of senility and already lost once to Biden well ok.

People like you are why Ron doesn’t have a chance. It’s as if you don’t realize you are trying to convince people that have already voted for Trump (and likely twice for that matter), that they are idiots if they haven’t already turned on him. Most people will not be voting between Desantis and Trump, they are simply waiting for the nominee. Ron had to create momentum, and what is coming from his side is just another vein of “Trump bad” as if this group of people hasn’t either tuned that out, or become defensive about it.

People are tired of being told who they are and how they think.

And sadly enough, Ron started playing to his base, and now has a little worthless cult of his own.

Well, we’re just ready for Trump to put this chump on ice for good, and take someone else apart for a change. It’s gotten boring.

Alright I’m being mostly facetious with that, the underlying premise being correct while also acknowledging that the delivery is all in good fun. No harm nor actual disrespect intended to anyone.

Ain't no basis for this, baw

I don't understand why people believe this

It's not a hidden secret he didn't make many friends in DC when he was a congressman. He's not really well liked at all in establishment GOP circles. He didn't make the cocktail circuit and suck up to party leadership, and instead flew home to be with his wife every weekend during Congressional Sessions. He's a middle class baw that is a bit of a Constitution dork and worked his arse off to get to where he is.

Im a well known Ron bot but this is my impression of Ron.

This is what he has always wanted to do. Hes the SG guy from college all grown up.

He knows the issues and how government works better than anyone on that stage.

He understands how to work government better than Donald Trump.

He is extremely conservative and his record is essentially perfect on that and hes a friggin boyscout so his personal life is clean too.

The problem is ON THE DEBATE stage he comes across as the SG dweeb.

Hes actually great and personable in sit down interviews like this because he has time to explain the issue, explain what he did and why he did it.

Debates with 6 or 7 other people have become how well did you deliver that one liner zinger that the group can laugh about while having a beer the next day.

The best way I can put it is on the debate stage hes the steve wozniack rather than the steve jobs. Its weird

The problem is he had one shot to really turn around some of this polling which was the first debate. The whole thing was a shitshow and now the base has tuned out.

I give him a little more credit than this

I don't think he grew up like that, he claims he didn't really care that much about politics until college
