If you look up “used car salesman” a pic of DJT appears. He is the quintessential “used car salesman”. I’m just to the point that the overwhelming majority of people that vote are dumb

One runs a global business worth several billion, the other suckles at the gov tit for everything he has.
I will let you figure out which one is which.

I’m not player hating here, alls I’m saying is that the very bold assertion you were making immediately has some flawed reasoning behind it, thus appears to be a bit over the top due to a knee jerk type response. Desantis is not the Conservative torchbearer you and others insist he is, and at the same time Trump isn’t the anti-Conservative as similarly insisted. The realistic and accurate truth of the matter is more in a grey area than many of us want to understand and deal with. As is the case with pretty much everything else in life.

There's nothing "knee jerk" about it and yes he is.

Desantis only has his record and it's almost above reproach. The frickin' guy has, in both word and more importantly deed done his best to hold up every conservative principle we would expect a conservative to uphold.

What more could conservatives in this country possibly want? That's a rhetorical question, I'll go ahead and answer it. The Shiite MAGA's want retribution for their political Ayatollah and they're so fricked up in their thinking that they actually believe he'll win the Presidency.

If Donald Trump ever graces the inside of the White House again, it'll be as a tourist. In fact, there's a pretty good chance, the next President takes his portrait off the wall and shoves it in a frickin' closet.

Conservativism in this country is all but dead. Donald Trump and his failed attempt to regain the White House will utterly kill it.

That’s bullshite. We have had decades of “conservative” leadership that has poorly represented it’s base. Ill give one small example - both Louisiana senators have voted to keep funding Ukraine. We are a conservative state that gets a massive amount of federal funding. Neither of those things aligns with sending several times our state budget overseas. That is unless you accept you got to give to get.

His underperformance on the campaign trail is mystifying.

He is fantastic in one-on-one interviews, when he's fighting with some media dipshit in a press conference, and when he's giving planned speeches. Just as good, and I'll even say in some ways better, than Trump.

HOWEVER, what the hardcore Ron fans can't or won't admit, is that in informal settings like campaign stops, in rally-type speeches when he's going off the cuff, and his overall persona when interacting with the public comes across as forced and inauthentic.

I WISH we did not live in a celebrity deathmatch-style campaign environment, but we do, and coming across as "feeling your pain" and being some guy you want to hang out with on your back porch is extremely important.

Ron does not have that, period.

give him a little more credit than this

I don't think he grew up like that, he claims he didn't really care that much about politics until college

If he were to ever get his wish and have a 1 on 1 debate of Trump it would be startling to a lot of people IMO.

Every single time Im about to tune out and bail on the guy I see an interview like this and he pulls me back in.

Thanks for admitting what we all knew that you are voting for the worse candidate simply because he can "own the libs" and is a better politician

I've yet to see a criticism of Ron with merit.

Let’s be real here, deep down all you really want is for someone, anyone, to own Trump. Even though it’s ostensibly a harm to you and/or your family, assuming you identify as a Republican, should Trump indeed lose which of course means the enemy Democrat won.

What a weird takeaway from my post... I'd happily vote for DeSantis. "Being a politician" IS part of being a good candidate, whether you LIKE that or not. I do not like it, as I said, but reality doesn't care about our feelings.

What I want is a conservative in the white house who wont ramp up the debt, who will protect life, who will energize the economy, who will make rational decisions in regards to pandemics and governmental intrusion, and one who understands how to manage a legislature.

Donald does maybe one of those-the economy. Maybe. He left with the economy in the dumps though so Hence I dont support him

Oh I see. Now Ron is who we need to lead the country because he handled a planned pandemic better in one small state.

Small state? It’s the third largest in the country with the 16th largest GDP in the world. It’s not small.

Ron was managing one state full of retirees and snowbirds

Retirees are the age bracket that are the most affected by COVID and he did a fantastic job there.

You said that Ron is better in one on one settings than Don is which means he has a better understanding of issues than Don does.

Who are you going to vote for?

This interview showed me that he could win votes from the left.

Something Trump could only dream of.

I don’t see how one can praise and promote the idea that Desantis is such a staunch conservative, the most conservative this country has seen in a long time in fact, and simultaneously propose that he also has a very strong capability of converting leftist voters into Desantis voters. It doesn’t seem to reconcile at all.

You are clueless. The goal is to get someone with conservative principles elected. Not a RINO. Not a RINO populist. A conservative.
