Did you have this conversation while she was cutting your hair and able to earn a living?

If so, I'm surprised she hasn't drowned while looking up at the rain.

Where do you see the remaining course of the pandemic heading?

Waxing and waning spikes in certain areas, with a gradual blunting of severe cases over the next several years as widespread exposure occurs. Eventually it will likely just become part of the seasonal pattern of respiratory viruses with an overall mortality of around 0.1%. We’ll end up vaccinating high risk populations annually if a successful vaccine is developed most likely, possibly in a combo flu/coronavirus vaccine.

Only if one had moved on from "flatten the curve" to attempt to prevent ALL PEOPLE from getting the virus regardless of the cost. Flattening the curve, perhaps a strategy worth pursuing. The latter, nonsense that has created dictators out of governors and mayors.

You have to remember, data as late as April indicated an overall mortality as high as 2% in some parts of the world. Ultimately it was much lower and this discrepancy was due to many factors which I can dive into if anyone is interested, but long story short making the strong decisions he did from March through May were done in the face of mixed data and a reasonably high chance of backfiring.

Cuomo undertook different similarly risky policies (some of which I personally disagreed with on a medical level) and many of his did backfire in disastrous fashion. As an example he placed a lot of trust in an industry (nursing home/dementia/disability care centers) that physicians know all too well is fraught with fraud, poor patient care and general incompetence. I felt at the time that relying on these facilities to appropriately quarantine COVID patients and not expose high risk residents was unwise just based on my experiences with such facilities, and as it turns out my concern was justified.

In the hospital we have strong procedures and policies in place to protect high risk inpatients from communicable diseases especially those transmitted by other patients, but those facilities just can’t be relied upon.

I have thought many times that Florida decision to elect a GOP, like virtually all the time a choice is presented, is SO MUCH AHEAD OF THE ALTERNATIVE - one of the Marxists

I don’t care for Gaetz, but honestly a young gay conservative being put out in front of a republican party platform could do wonders for the party’s longterm image/public perception.

The GOP needs to create an environment where gay conservatives feel comfortable “coming out” so to speak. There are A LOT of people in this country who only vote democrat because they believe the GOP hates gay people and therefore opposes them or someone they care about. The idea that you can’t be gay and support the GOP needs to be snuffed our.

He’s obviously a closet homosexual. Most conservative gay people feel they have to chose between their sexuality and their political beliefs because the narrative has long been the GOP and LGBT community are not compatible.

Mark Foley was another GOPer who everyone knew was gay. No one in his district cared up until he got caught messing with interns.

Desantis may have been privy to some information that debunked the crappy models from university of Washington and others that predicted the worst. Earlier than the rest of us anyway.

I agree, but between many on the left saying conservatives hate gays and many on the right citing religious objections to homosexuality as part of their platform it’s an inevitable narrative.

The reality is, apart from the far religious right, conservatives care far less about who you’re fricking than liberals do.
