Great actor, terrible politics.

Liked some of his movies:

Barefoot in the Park
Jeremiah Johnson
The Natural
Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid

RIP

Not a fan of his politics, but he was a great actor in some great films such as:

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
Jerimiah Johnson
The Sting
The Great Gatsby
The Great Waldo Pepper
A Bridge Too Far
The Natural
Out of Africa

to name a few.

RIP, RR.

Always been a huge Twilight Zone fan going back to when Nick at Night would air reruns in the late 80s early 90s. The episode where he plays Death is still one of the best.

RIP Mr Redford

He was a liberal, but mostly an old-school one that eschewed calling people those he disagreed with all kinds of names.

I can respect that, even if I disagree with much of his positions.

And, I think he did a lot of good with that Sundance thing.

No love for Roy Hobbs?

Excellent movie even though they went for the happy ending instead of staying true to the book.

There was a certain level of suspension of disbelief needed for the first 20 minutes when Redford was trying to play an 18 year old kid though lol.

That reminds me that Sneakers was a decent movie

Also his ultimate fantasy as it ends with hackers bankrupting the RNC and giving all the money to Greenpeace, Amnesty International, and the United Negro College Fund.

Still, he was an actor who was good at his craft and the standard of handsomeness for much of my girlhood so RIP.

He was in some great films in my opinion.

One of my favorites is Spy Game with Brad Pitt. Really good action/suspense CIA movie.

Out of Africa is one of the most beautifully shot films in cinematic history. I could watch that movie for the scenes and the score and edit out the dialogue and it would be captivating. He's ok in that and ok in the Sting. Other than that kind of blah

He won an Academy Award for Best Director for Ordinary People, which is one of my favorite films.

It mostly comes down to your definition of “liberal and conservative.
Those lines arent as bright as you might think.

However, people who go into the performing arts tend to have a good measure of empathy…

No they dont. Proclaiming your "empathy" or being more theatrical about it has no bearing on the real world demonstration of "empathy ".

So youre 100% wrong, just dead wrong.

To be an actor you must be toward the emotional end of the personality spectrum and love to play pretend.

To be a liberal you are emotional and have to pretend liberal political/economics is a viable system.

I’m guessing that TCM will probably have some sort of Robert Redford marathon this weekend (or sooner). I'll be on the lookout and ready to DVR.

Jackie Gleason was in the Sting 2. That was also a good movie.
