That reminds me that Sneakers was a decent movie

Also his ultimate fantasy as it ends with hackers bankrupting the RNC and giving all the money to Greenpeace, Amnesty International, and the United Negro College Fund.

Still, he was an actor who was good at his craft and the standard of handsomeness for much of my girlhood so RIP.
I remember the media making a big deal about it and that even at 12 years old I could pick up that it was politically driven. At about the same time, NBC had a similar movie that was supposed to be a real time newscast of terrorists setting off a nuke in Charleston harbor. Special Bulletin I think was the name? I remember that one being more realistic. I hardly remember what actually happened in The Day After just the hype.
My dad happened to be at either a Wilson’s or a Service Merchandise when he heard the workers say they were about to put some out so he headed over to the toys and grabbed one. Don’t think they even hit the shelves but the guy opening the box just handed them out. It wasn’t a mob scene or anything. I was 13 and too old for dolls but he was so proud to have it under the tree for me I acted like I was thrilled.
When they called Wisconsin. I thought Trump would win the election from the time of the Biden debate, but I did not believe he’d win the count.
When I was in Hawaii a couple months ago, I saw RFK signs and Trump signs and only one Harris/Biden sign. Had a nice chat with a native Hawaiian who thought Kamala was terrible. He said that at least in Hawaii we’re insulated some from the craziness, but you people on the mainland will be screwed if she gets in.
She must have a high therapist bill. It’s about to get higher.
What disability rights are being taken away? In the context of her “no female rights” claim, restrictions on abortion where a child potentially has a non- life threatening disability assures the disabled of the most fundamental right of all - the right to life. She makes no sense.
An old friend came in from outta town. Someone stole her car. There was an earthquake, a terrible flood, locusts. It wasn't her fault! I swear to God!

Speaking of…what does “purchasing waterfalls” mean in the 19th century?

Little fake curls. Basically a Victorian version of a weave.

What sucks is that they're case is contingent where you'll have to pay all your legal fees along the way. What does this even mean?

That someone suing you doesn’t have to pay out of pocket for their lawyer. The lawyer takes a percentage of any judgment or settlement for their fee. If you get sued, you or your insurance company has to pay a defense lawyer out of pocket by the hour usually.
When I had my oldest, I went to the hospital late at night when my water broke but I didn’t go into labor until the next morning. I remember turning on the History Channel to pass the time, and the show that was on was the history of concrete. It was actually kinda interesting and very informative. I miss the History Channel that showed real history.
I was born in a different state where my parents happened to be living at the time and moved away when I was 3. Growing up, we moved several more times and I have no ties to those places anymore. Graduated from high school in the town my parents still live in, but I never really cared for the place and they will not be buried there. Parents will be buried where my mother grew up, but it is a place where I do not have happy memories so I do not want to be buried there. (Plus it’s a place that has been slowly dying for 50 years and once my mother’s generation dies off there will be no one left anyway.) I could be buried where I live now, but I don’t feel particularly connected here either. Divorced so don’t have to think about being buried with a spouse.

I’ve thought about being buried in Auburn (in a real cemetery and not sprinkled in the end zone) as that’s the place I’ve felt most at home in my life. Maybe my kids will swing by on game weekends.
Try Hickory Hill Boston Terriers in Newton, MS. Got a wonderful Boston from there.
Interesting and infuriating video. The thing looked like something engineered by Flint Lockwood in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs but they invested in having a”resident indigenous artist”?

Just keep the Star Wars theme, add a pool, and make it one of their high end $600+ per night hotels.

They would have to spend a lot of money to upgrade the exterior and the site. The hotel looks like a bunker from the front, and the other three sides are just industrial looking. No windows, no facade, just exposed pipes, etc. The hotel itself is pretty small, and the view is of the back side of Galaxy’s Edge. The idea was that once you checked in you would not see outside during your stay (except for a little self contained outdoor area).
Because of a family connection, my kid and I got to be part of the pre-opening preview group for the Galactic Starcruiser. We’re big Star Wars fans, but it was a huge disappointment. It’s set up so you can’t leave the hotel except for an “excursion” to Galaxy’s Edge one morning. The rest of the time there just wasn’t all that much to do, and what they had wasn’t really that engaging. Food was kinda cool though. All the blue milk you can drink.

It was worth at most maybe a couple thousand if you’re a mega Star Wars fan. Had I paid the $5k they were charging, I would have been very bitter about it.

He was talking about Padme not Obi-Wan, being Luke was there and he could sense part of her being alive.

If that were true, Vader would have felt that from the time he captured Leia on, not just when Luke showed up on the Death Star. But I guess you could make the argument that it was only when both of Padme’s children were together that her presence was strong enough. Still makes more sense that he was referring to Obi Wan though.

The Born Yesterday movie they were watching might be a clue to that (or a red herring who knows). In that movie, Judy Holliday is a crooked businessman’s dumb blonde girlfriend, and he hides his assets by signing them over to her. She turns out to be not so dumb and runs off with William Holden and the money.
