I know this shite happens on both sides and we the people need to raise holy hell!

Grok added this tidbit when I asked:
quote:

Strong outperformance: AI-focused trades returned +112.1% excess over the S&P 500 from January 2024 through April 2026 (compared to Nancy Pelosi’s family trades at +38.5% over the same period)

It is all an accounting error. Just like it was for Ilhan Omar earlier this year. Nothing to see here folks.

Wasn't this the guy at the forefront of banning stock trading?

People in congress should only be allowed to own etfs or funds, we've already figured this out in the private sector, government is so stupid.

None of them leave Washington poorer. D/R doesn't matter, branch of government doesn't matter, they're all cashing in.

38,666 trades in a year and a half?

How did he ever have time to do his actual job?

That's 46 trades a day based on a 7-day week. It's well over 50 if you only go with his 5-day work week.

It's beyond outrageous!

Sleazeballs on both sides of the aisle have learned over the years that being a “public servant” is an extremely lucrative gig.

It’s fair to question whom exactly serves whom when it comes to our esteemed elected officials and the public who they purport to represent.

Crazy to think the most staunch conservative Massie doesn’t care about this stuff but works hand and foot with him and good friends together.

I dont exactly want congress members to have to leave poorer than the start of their term. That also makes no sense. Seems like a good way to narrow the pool of candidates to ideological nutbags.

A simple par market return is sufficient. They can even beat it by using etfs for all I care. Again, private sector has already been there, done that, solved this shite years ago.

That's why MOST people go into politics in Wash DC - to become generationally wealthy such that even their great grandchildren will be Upper Class Elites from their day of birth.

It's the wealth, power and prestige that motivates them to get there and stay forever. These people aren't "public servants" in any meaningful sense of the phrase - they serve themselves.

What? They’re public servants who wanted the job. The reason why they want the job is to get rich not to help the people.

Public servants should never be wealthy, that leaves them with nothing in common with most of whom they represent, therefore only working for themselves.

ETA: If you come into it wealthy because maybe you owned a business, or you made some good investments, that's fine. You just shouldn't profit, other than your base pay and a travel stipend to and from your home state (or anywhere you're on official business to).

I hate insider trading, because no doubt it causes them to vote certain ways.

But God. Why do they do invest under their own name? At least TRY to hide your bias.

That, or they should give up their right to privacy and ALL financial transactions be public accessible. Simple, if you are found to have invested in ANY entity that was involved in a decision you had a vote in, you are expelled immediately

You think youre getting rich off average market returns?

I mean, your statement sounds good, im sure youre going to be overflowing with dogooders who want to get poorer to serve their country. Much in the same way Catholicism was overflowing with straight up gentlemen who want to sacrafice sex with no repercussions.

Id prefer to just have the best candidate pool possible. Just set reasonable, realistic expectations. Again we do this all the fkn time in the private sector. Fact of the matter is, most capable individuals with success in their past life managing shite(the people i prefer to have making the decisions), are gonna have assets and investments. I dont want a bunch of communists that are only hungry to get rich on power.

Serving the public should be a sacrifice, much like serving in the military.

You think we have that now?

The current system mostly attracts scammers and sociopaths.
