I'm gonna offer a counter, as a non-attorney:
the prosecution offered a coupletely awful case, I think not guilty would be reached if the defense waived their case after the prosecution closed.
I wonder if Richards and Chirafesi decided to go minimalist, at that point.
Don't want to NOT present anything, but also don't want to get into tons of stuff, and confuse the jurors.
