However, how does this lineup with the constitution or capitalism or free speech?

Not well.

But there are a lot of 180s on this issue, from posters who would have lost their mind had Obama proposed something similar. The Constitution isn't a big focus with them anymore.

It is 100% in line with all three

Neither the constitution, nor capitalism, nor free speech protect the right to legalized bribery.

RFKjr Announces Plans for Pharma TV Commercial Ban

This is Exhibit A for why the Democrat Party wouldn't allow this man, a KENNEDY, to compete against Brandon for the party's nomination. Much like Trump, he's an OUTSIDER who thinks for himself, can't be controlled, and actually wants to do what's right for the American people.

And, obtw, this is also another testament to the fact that we need to exercise a little patience and understand that Trump and his team are just getting started. You can't erase 70 years of corruption by the Deep State in just a couple of months. I wish that some here could understand that.

It is ridiculous to market product to people who can't outright buy it.

Not only that. They advertise drugs to treat the side effects of the drugs they advertise.

Funny we get charged much higher prices in the US bc “research”, while they pay for expensive commercials on news networks

That's how they buy favorable news reports from networks (see: reluctance to report on how the COVID vaccines would still allow people to catch and pass on COVID, lack of reporting on how the CDC changed the definition of "vaccine" during COVID to match the "vaccine's" limitations, etc).

This is a really bad idea. Watching these ads, I’ve always known that if I will just agree to throw the right combination of chemicals down my throat everyday, then
1) I’ll get a blind date with a tall thin red headed international airline pilot whose only goal in life has been to save her virginity for this moment in time
2) have my best friend toss me the keys to his fully restored pewter International Harvester because “I’m tired of it but can’t bring myself to sell it”
3) grab a bag of Krystal’s and head to the local park with the redhead only to find that there’s a pop-up Eagles reunion concert for a couple hundred people
4) hear Randy Meisner belt out Take It To The Limit as the redhead tugs at my Wranglers and whispers to me “I also own a gun store”

I know that if I can just find the right combination of Pharma and force you to pay for it via medicaid or medicare or medidisability, then my dreams come true. Don’t take this away from me.

Lots of TV networks gonna go broke.

How are they gonna pay so much for sports broadcasting rights?

How are those big contracts going to make sense without the TV network making money?

This isn’t going to happen.

Old enough to remember the death of the Marlboro man and a camel.

People screeched that lost revenue would decimate TV etc.

I understand the damage big pharma is doing to network television in terms of molding public opinion to love big pharma products by buying off network television but I struggle with a ban on advertising because I'm pretty much against censorship.

Tell me why it's okay to censor big pharma here.

Anybody know the plan? How does it withstand Big Pharma’s inevitable 1st Amendment violation claims?

I'd guess some argument to do with public health or decency etc.
Or something similar to not being able to drop F bombs on a 2pm talk show.

I'd love to hear a lawyer or other expert explain the details though.

If he gets this done and does nothing else, then his tenure will have been a success.

My guess they will get around first amendment issues the same way they did for cigarette advertising.
