Standardized testing is dumb overall. You know who passed all the MCAT stuff?
I had quite a few friends in college who were going to medical school. While I think you might be able to make that argument (however bad it is) if you were talking about the LSAT, the GMAT, or the GRE, the MCAT is different. The MCAT tests actual scientific knowledge. And if you don’t have this basic scientific knowledge, you have no business going to medical school. If you have to go back and learn it and then retake the MCAT, then that's what you need to do. Otherwise, find something else to do with your life.
I remember going to several medical school parties with some of my med school friends (the med school students really did throw the best parties). One of the parties was called the “It's Not Too Late To Go To Law School“ party.

Big Brains at AAMC: "You know, the Medical Profession really took a pummeling during Covid....People don't trust us, many of us were exposed as greedy, incompetent liars....How can we combat this....."
Fellow Big Brain at AAMC: "Oooooh! I know: let's dumb down what it means to be a DOCTOR, THAT oughta do it!"
Fellow Big Brains at AAMC: "HUZZAH!!!!!!!"

Eliminate the MCAT. Require entry based on a high GPA. Enroll more students. Have high grade standards. If enrolled students don't make the grade, remove and send them to nursing school. They can strive to become nurse practitioners.

Every step of the admissions process has been designed to keep me and other individuals underrepresented in medicine, including Black and Latinx applicants, out of medical school.
Nope every step of the process is designed to keep shitty applicants out of medical school. I don't care what color you are if you are a good doctor.

Can the individual states reject this?

MCAT scores alone won't get you into medical school. It has been many years since I took it, and I certainly did not make a perfect score, but I don't recall it being something that was only tailored to white guys. If anything some parts of it were set up to also evaluate the ability to think outside the box and evaluate ability to reason.

GED and you’re in!!!!!!
And if a certain demographic can't pass the GED, they'll waive that requirement too. Then, once in medical school, once their failure rate is high, they'll lower the standards again. Just a race to the bottom at this point.

Aren't white guys underrepresented in med schools these days?

We need intelligence in medicine, not diversity.

They are in the one I am affiliated with.

Lol even the “smart” people crying and pointing fingers for their own failures

This happened in Pharmacy 3 years ago. Grad schools are doing away with the GRE.
We are sacrificing competency on the altar of diversity.
So much for the meritocracy.

Today, nearly one in four medical students reported coming from a home in the top 5 percent of all households with an income. Only 12 percent of medical students are the first in their families to graduate college.
It’s almost like intelligence is genetic and physicians usually come from smart families that did well. Weird.

I feel this is just a cash grab. Schools love the cash. They do not care who gets in and injects that shite of freshman cash. They don’t care if they flunk out. “Thank you for your donation”.
They DO ABSOLUTELY care about their first time pass rates of board exams. If any frickery with boards goes on then we are fricked. But just leading more wallets in for slaughter is not too big of a deal. The cash of the dumb improve facilities as much as smart money does.

With step one now pass/fail it’s already going on

Removing the requirement for attending college would also increase diversity

I want my doctor and lawyer to be the smartest SOB on the planet, no matter the color!

It could also remove competency from the medical profession. These people have lost their damn mind.
