It was far more fixed

They didn't have to falsify ballots to do it
They had the votes from the very beginning: 17 Republicans in the Senate. The Senate was the jury in the impeachment trial
paxton is a Republican; he was never ever ever ever going to be found guilty

thats why the did the dog-and-pony show

Because paxton had been ducking all the trials in actual state courts
and so they held it in the legislature, and that was the plan all along .

Because in the state of Texas, if an elected official can't get a fair trial at the District Court, then the trial is held by the legislature; that's in the Texas State Constitution

I worked in the legislature for over a decade

The judge (not Paxton) accepted the plea and sentenced the guilty party.

The judge rejected the plea deal and made them impose more jail time than the one day the AGs office proposed.

All you need to know about Paxton is he's not totally clean and without some warts but his biggest sin was taking down George P Bush.....that's not gonna fly with the Texas neocons

In the last 40 years, 3 people have beaten a Bush in an election.

Bill Clinton
Donald Trump
Ken Paxton

Hmmmmm....what else do they have in common?

Well he pled out to a couple of the charges and paid a fine to settle it

if he wasn't guilty why did he pay a fine?

Didn’t the evidence also demonstrate that Ken Paxton (not Nate Paul) paid for the water damage repair which was not the claimed renovations?

There’s a number of reasons I suppose. I guess what I’m asking is did the evidence that was levied against him rise to the level of conviction IYO?

The other poster seems imply the trial was a sham… but for the exact opposite reason you are arguing.

I’m not familiar with his background TBH

To acknowledge civil liability.

Even the Biden Justice Department refused to prosecute federally because the allegations were lacking.

He solicited clients for an investor for no cash payment but failed to report that he was being compensated with stock in the company. Oh my.

You have consistently said Paxton is so corrupt. Now the impeachment was all a show. You're a fricking nutcase. All booze and no cattle POS.

Why does it bother you that I'm so confident in my opinion?

It isn't you specifically. I am bothered that you, and people like you, want to have an argument over candidate selection long after the time for that argument has passed.

You guys can't seem to get it in your head that your guy lost.

Then, you somehow think you will get some small victory by spoiling the chosen candidate, saying they can't possibly win. They usually do win, and you turd munchers don't evaluate how wrong you were at all regarding the general voter.

Then, you rinse and repeat with every other election. It is exhausting.

Spot f’ing on. Same thing happened with Herschel Walker and Ozzy (the doctor, not the Prince of Darkness). Hopefully not the same in the end though. I believe enough people will pull their heads out of their collective asses on the day of that will ultimately do the trick. That’s my prediction.

Which now pales in comparison to taking out Cornyn.

Globalrino's are mad. But there's not much they can do at this point considering their hold on power was keeping the wool pulled over Maga's eyes.

My summary was admittedly brief. I cut to the chase.

But let’s also add that the victim’s mother supported the final plea deal.
