50% tax on foreign remittances, with the money going towards SS
You’ll just put Western Union out of business…illegals will pay 30% to have it smuggled back; that’s the going rate now for bulk cash smuggling.

“No Retirement for You Bill”
Here's the problem, and the reason they are called entitlements. It was NEVER meant to be a retirement fund. It is insurance. People treating it like retirement is the problem. They don't save for themselves but depend on the government like welfare recipients. Yes you paid into it. Those are called taxes. You shouldn't have trusted the government with your money, but you (past generations) voted for politicians who promised to take care of you. That NEVER works.

Social security was meant as insurance against still being alive, but too feeble to work. It was never intended as a retirement plan.

Only a very few relatively speaking qualify for that benefit. The rest of the money is going to the well-being of someone here illegally who hates us.

This is what is wrong with America today you shouldn't be waiting for the government to fund your retirement for you

While you statement could be true, I'm pretty sure the spousal benefit is available to any married couple when one dies.

With the way inflation outpaces cost of living I plan on using SS to feed my Sonic habit when I retire. Might have a few pennies left to throw at the homeless guy who blew through his food stamps on booze.

I would take 50 percent of what I've put in to get out of the program completely so I can actually invest that money.
So would I, but our broke arse government doesn't have the funds. They have been stealing them and putting it into the general fund to spend.
Someone tell Rand Paul to payback all the IOU's to the SS fund in gold or silver first.

So, invest into a federal slush fund for 52 + years, reap the returns for 8.

I’m in favor. I’m 65 and probably won’t draw until then

The way AI and automation is headed, old people are increasingly unemployable. It’s already accepted that employers widely pan anyone over 50, and they’re also the first to be made redundant.
There’s no scenario where the economy will support a labor force in their 60s or 70s.

This probably the main issue that defines Boomers and why they should be hated.
They eliminated pensions, started taking SS early, then kept it locked behind their voting block....and now they would 100% support this to make sure no one else can retire at 65 and enjoy retirement.

How about: stop sending our money to other countries.
Stop funding illegals
Stop funding welfare.
Stop wasting money on climate and alternative energies
Stop the grift if congressional millionaires
Eff Rand Paul. I’m 63 and want all all of my monies now. Now in drips and drabs.

raising the age must happen for solvency
Years ago when I was in my 40s, they floated an idea to raise the retirement age a month every year. I don’t remember exactly what it was, but it was something like that. By now that would have added two and a half years to the retirement age.
I was for something like that because it was for the good of the whole. Unfortunately no one did much of anything.

this is his grand idea to reduce spending? increasing the age by a few years isn’t going to solve the issue, it would only put a dent in the deficit.
it’s laughable that he’s the so-called champion of less government spending and his conclusion is raise the age or raise taxes. if he was serious, he would call for an entire overhaul of Social Security, which means phasing out the current system. but he’s a fraud - can’t believe people still fall for his and Massie’s schtick.

What would you suggest? How can we phase out SS and still meet obligations to those who are counting on SS and those who believe they will collect when they meet the qualified age?

I would rather them reduce how much you get than make it 70 YO

At what age does HIS 'retirement' kick in ? I KNOW all of 'our' congress-people/senators opted OUT of SS a very long time ago....question is...WHY ??
