Lower gun ownership age to sixteen and teach gun use and safety course in highschool nation wide.

Unless we don't allow the soldiers to use guns.

Voting age should be 25. College students should need real world experience before voting

How about compulsory military service for 2 years? Everyone receives firearms training in that scenario.

False equivalency.

There is, perhaps, no place where one is more trained, directed, supervised, led, and developed than in the military.

So, when I see "can't drink a beer...but, can join the military" or this OP...I wonder if one would call for the type of training, supervision, control, etc that the military applies to the youthful enrollee?

I am on your "side" of the gun control debate. I just think the link to military service is a weak argument.

How about you can't own guns or vote until you are off your parents' health insurance.

No. Military is the exception because it provides adequate training and supervision.

How about instead of raising the age we just require mandatory training along with every gun purchase?

Nope. The military provides leadership, discipline, and direction that many families in society don't. I have full faith that anyone who makes it in the military at that age is more than well enough trained and capable of handling that firearm.

Been thinking/saying this for 10-15 years, it stops all the BS arguments about being old enough to die for your country but too young to_________.

Age 21 to be deployed into action.

Let's make it all 21...

Voting rights
Age to immigrate to the U.S.
Drive a car
Drink a beer
Get an abortion
Get government assistance
Enter a contract

why stop at only 1 or 2 things????
