When 24 hour news networks became a thing and the goal became viewers and not the news.

What in the world can we free people do in the face of a corrupted propagandistic press? They think there is nothing we can do about it. I'm not sure that we can. It will take someone with a big megaphone.

We actually studied this in journalism school and yes they are aware of their liberal bias.

If you want to use poli boards as a barometer I'd say around 2005. I started posting on boards in 1997 and there were lots of posters who disputed that the media had any left wing bias at all.
By 2005 those left wing posters were too embarrassed to make any assertion of objectivity.
The general public came along around 2010. That's when I couldn't even find a Dem IRL who asserted media objectivity.
Lack of credibility does not bother journalists anymore. It follows the trend with college profs. Thousands of them have written that they don't believe the job of a teacher is to inform. It's to promote social justice and change the culture to promote peace and equality in the world.

They stopped being honest in 2008 when they went all in for Obama.

I do believe that the press decided they would not sit still and silent after Bush won the squeaker in 2000(?).

Completely? A lot of people would say during the 2016 primary but it was really during Obammy’s reign of terror.
I tend to agree with this. It was a long trip but they were still at least pretending up to the GWB years, and they stopped even pretending with the Halfrican Messiah. I think it was more visible with Trump and they amped it up a bit, but the “tingle up my leg” was a pretty good line of demarcation.

Fifty years ago. We just didn't recognize it. We had no internet to expose them.
Any show on politics, would have 1 conservative vs five liberals and a liberal audience.
Senator McCarthy!

It doesn’t matter. They do. Stop supporting them.

It’s goes back to the 60s with how the media reported the Vietnam War to the American public. Every night when America tuned into the evening news it was non-stop about how the war was a quagmire that we could never win. A prime example of this was the Tet Offensive in 1968. Our media made it sound like we were getting our asses kicked; Walter Cronkite went so far as to proclaim the war was “unwinnable”. The truth on the ground though was that American and South Vietnamese won one of the most lopsided victories in world history over the NVA and the Viet-Cong. We beat them so badly the Viet-Cong all but ceased to exist as a viable military force and had to be rebuilt using NVA soldiers. And virtually all NVA formations committed to the offensive were likewise bled white. But did the media report this? No. Instead they lied to the American people. And they’ve not stopped lying since.

Did you learn in school that the media “protected” FDR by not exposing him to be in a wheelchair?
And it was told that they were being kind to him

The OP has the correct response to this specific question. Yes, there has always been bias in the media and it has gradually worsened but the media was always able to stitch together a pretense of objectivity until Trump came along. Trump made the NYT announce they were changing the way they were covering elections. Trump being able to communicate through Twitter has led to members of the press advocating for censorship, a point the media had never reached no matter how much they hated the president or any other particular politician previously. Pre-Trump late night talk shows focused on Hollywood celebrities and comedy. Their hatred for Trump turned them into humorless, whiny, left-wing political windbags. The same social media enterprises who had to be put into a Bob Backlund chicken wing to remove videos promoting ISIS all of a sudden decided a former president was a threat to the country. Remember, the original question was not when did some of the media start becoming biased or when did some of the media start hinting that they were not being objective. The question was at what point did "all forms" of media drop "any pretense of objectivity."
