The purpose for the constitutions set up is for it not to randomly change to fit times. There are mechanisms in place to adapt it as needed, but it takes significant buy in from the entire country, not just a couple of states or loons that think they know what is right and best for everyone.
The protections are entirely meant for different reasons. The right to bear arms, was included to allow the populace to protect itself against a tyrannical government. That is why it is focused in there.
The first amendment is to allow for criticism of the government within reason without governmental repercussion. It was not placed in there to protect you from others' feelings or criticism and to allow you to say whatever you want to anyone with no consequences (like losing your job).
The fourth amendment was included to protect you from government over-reach and theft of your belongings/lands.
All of the amendments (particularly the bill of rights) were designed to prevent federal government over-reach and allow the STATES (we are a federation of states not just a country without subdivision), to govern themselves as long as they did not violate the basic agreed upon rights.
If they want abortion to be legalized, then legalize it through legislation like should have been done. Instead, they made up a right and even worse used that decision to justify many other horrible decisions based on absolutely nothing of merit.
You build a house out of cards, and when it collapses, you expect people to be surprised?
Whether you are pro-life, pro-choice, or don't even care, using faulty reasoning and the judiciary system to make up rights is bad for everyone.
