It's going to interesting to see what Congress does when they come back in session. Lots of big money in Trump's ear right now. Trump must veto any legislation even if he gets over ridden, otherwise he is finished.

Add Publix to the growing list of retailers asking customers to leave their guns at home.

"Publix respectfully requests that only law enforcement officials openly carry firearms in our stores," the Florida-based grocery chain said in a statement.

Publix has more than 1,200 stores in seven states in the Southeast.

With the announcement, Publix joins outlets like Walmart, Target, CVS, Kroger, Walgreens, Albertson’s, Aldi, H-E-B, Meijer, Starbucks and a host of others in asking customers not to openly carry firearms in their stores following mass shootings across the country

It seems like these major companies horribly misread their customer base

Liberals on Facebook and twitter aren’t representative of America

That is Publix prerogative. Doesn’t seem like they’ve taken issue with concealed carry though

I'm curious should owning a gun come with certain safety and defensive training classes? If we have to register our firearms why can't they require certification on each every X amount of years. If you can not pass you can not own, type of deal or would this still be against the #2 amendment for many.

If a private business doesn't want you to do something on their private property, what's the issue?

I kind of agree to tell the truth, seems like nobody knowing you are carrying is an advantage.

What's the problem with a private company having this policy?

I disagree, but I understand businesses requesting customers not open carry.

Terrible idea. When a Warren or Beto gets in charge, they just make it where the class is not passable.

It prevents dummies and the poor from being able to own guns, at least that is the theory. Same reason they won’t let you put any restrictions on other constitutional rights

lets just make murder illegal and then no one will kill another person.

While we’re at it, make drugs illegal. That stops everyone from doing them, right??!?

Or maybe criminals who don’t follow the laws, won’t follow whatever bullshite laws politicians can pass, bc pieces of shite who are looking to kill people don’t care about laws

I'll allow it if there are also courses and tests for EACH AND EVERY CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT individually, not just Amendments 1-4, every single one. No pass the test, no exercise the right.

But wait! That would make them not rights at all but privileges. See how that works?

I don't disagree with that.

But don't open a business in a State then refuse their laws.

Do they not realize 99.99% of the people that open carry have a pistol on their side and aren't going to do a mass shooting?

It's those stupid fricks that walk into a Taco Bell with a shite SKS trying to prove a point that ruin things for everyone else.

Probably a liability issue as much as anything. I don’t open carry and I ignore signs requesting no firearms anyway where they’re legal.
