Do you put monitoring apps on their phones to keep track of them?

I refuse to do this because I don't want my kids getting used to the idea of being monitored. I think this generation of kids will be far too willing to succumb to incessant tracking and monitoring because their parents have done it to them their entire lives.

What say you?

We use find my iPhone but mainly to time dinner and other harmless stuff like did they make it to their destination safely.

They rarely gave us reasons to use it to actually track them for other purposes like catching them in a lie.

Followed my daughter a couple of times yesterday on her way back to TN from FL just for peace of mind.

My BFF had this on her daughter’s phone and found out the coach at Redemptorist was trying to get her to go to his house. She reported him and when other students started talking it was discovered that he had taken at least one to his house on a few occasions and had sex with her. The girls were only 15. The coach was arrested and terminated.

I don’t have tracking software but I always surprised mine and told them to let me see their phones and I’d dig.

I have Life 360 on my 21 & 18 yr old daughter’s phones. It saved my oldest daughter when she was 17 bc she wrecked in a curve on blackwater road coming home from work at 10pm. It was raining and she lost control and flipped sideways into a ditch. She called me crying and didn’t know exactly where she was on blackwater bc it was so dark. We found her using Life 360.

Got the Life360 app on all of our phones. It's nice to have for emergencies.

Us too. I will look at it occasionally and tell my girls to slow their asses down. Even when they’re with friends I’ll call them and tell them I don’t care who they’re with that’s driving… slow the fk down.

I think that's a stupid reason not to track a teen IF you think they need tracking. Mine never gave me a reason to, but if I was paying the bills and I felt the need to track them I'd have done it without hesitation.

Agreed. Big difference in big brother tracking citizens vs parents monitoring their kids.

Mine are young adults and they could tell me to pound sand but if they did, they’d be paying their own auto ins.

We have filters on my daughters phone (she is the only one with a phone). It is too easy for her to accidentally see shite she shouldn’t.

I remember a friend of mine gave me a Cana Lily bud. I googled it to see what the flower would look like and apparently it is also some form of porn.

shite like that is why I like good filters.

Everyone is just kind of ignoring the fact you called them tards

Mine are not teens yet. But I think I’d put the find my iphone on and not go as far as anything else unless they deserve it.

I noticed. Just didn’t take offense.

It’s hard to hurt my feelings.

I haven’t done this for my daughters.

I probably would if I had boys.

They were both aware that we could ask for their phones at any moment and they would be expected to turn them over.

We did that very few times and a few times less offered guidance on what we saw as unhealthy behaviors.

My children don't have phones. If my adult child wants a phone, they can buy it themselves.

I prefer Life 360 over my find my phone bc it is free and it shows how fast your kids are going… also if they’re texting and driving, braking or accelerating too fast…

That you're a terrible parent. Not only do you give your child a pocket computer with unfettered access to all of the world's good and evil, you do so without even seeing the shite he's being exposed to. You are the problem with this world and why today's children are growing up the way they are.

Suicide rates are at epidemic levels, and their graphs show a near parallel increase to the implementation and popularity of social media. Kids are growing up to have terrible social skills, and they struggle to find ways to interact with their peers outside of a digital screen. They are falling victims to the corruption and indoctrination of the twisted WOKE evils, because they are inundated with this via the very "phone" you give total, unmonitored access to.

You're a parent. Monitoring your children is your duty.

You failed your children

Under 16? I probably would. Your house your rules, and if you don't monitor your kids online activity you're to blame for however it warps them. Just my $0.02.

Then again, every family varies. You know your situation best, and if full trust works for you then that's awesome. The honor code thing works on disappointment being a legitimate penalty for offenders though.

Monitor the shite out of them. Put life360 on their phones... but the bigger issue for us is the social networks.

And if that's not enough for a parent to fight, don't listen to therapists or counselors if they tell you 'You should back away as a parent, give them space to grow'.

True story for cathartic vent...

Three weeks ago, my wife and I awoke to EMS services lining the street in front of the house just after midnight. Completely silent and thinking they were for an elderly neighbor [or we'd been swatted], we were shocked to hear they had been dispatched for a 19 yo female. I couldn't even go into my daughter's room. Seems she had OD'd on Tylenol. For those who haven't heard, Tylenol OD is asymptomatic for the first several hours, the victim sleeps. After 4-7 hours, it kills their liver... they die painfully several days later.

I'm grateful someone she had been in touch with contacted 911 that night. I've seen the texts, and there was nothing alarming other than 'remember I love you'. All while we would have slept through the night.

Thankfully, she is OK.

Today, we have locks on the medicine cabinets, doors taken off the hinge and CLOSE supervision of a young lady.

Always question the doctors, physiatrists and therapists. I don't trust them - even 'Christian-based' organizations. Wokism has made its ugly way into every aspect of our lives.

I'm thankful to our Lord, we were given a second chance.

And they shouldn't really be answering or using their phones in any way if driving, too much of a distraction.
