Education of children should never be a jobs program.

I was referring to state departments like the DOT or DOE. Not children. Sorry for the confusion.

Why is this shocking to anyone? We all know progressives are nothing but virtue signalers who don't practice what they preach.

Of course they are.

Minorities are just props for the FILTH.

That's it.

But yeah, those "racists" in the "conservative" areas are coming up with ways to lift these communities.

I always find it funny with Filth from lilly white areas call me a racist. If I was, I would move where you live.

Also, why the hell would I want the people that live around me to be poor?

Let's look at this practically. Those job programs at least give people some form of employment. I'd rather have working people anyday than non-working.

But if the jobs are unnecessary and simply created to just employ people, then isn't that just taxpayers paying money to people that don't deserve it? If the jobs are necessary, then companies will fill them without needing subsidies from taxpayers.

quote:

Louisiana is already losing population BECAUSE of lack of jobs as it is. Cutting job programs will increase that number. And the lazy ones would simply get on welfare.

Let the people leave then. I'm not waiting around for this state to get its act together. Louisiana's government is too incompetent to bring enough tech companies here, so I'm out the door as soon as school is done. We should be encouraging people to seek better opportunities than to stay in a losing situation and leach off the government, whether it is through a useless job or welfare. Maybe people in Louisiana will finally wise up once all the talent leaves and the state collapses. There is no point throwing good money after bad. Until the system changes, it is futile. And most people won't realize that until the system fails completely. So let it happen.

I didnt see anywhere in the study pointing out private vs public schools, in which I would assume the "gap" is directly correlated

This is all so predictable, as the upper/middle class self-loathing white professionals spend all their time and money virtue-signaling and crying about the inequalities of America. All the while, they're shuttling their kids to private schools in Volvos, bemoaning about the plight of their public schools system in-between commercial breaks on NPR.

Standard liberal operating procedure: I know better on how you should live your life, it's just not applicable to my life

You know, if your kid is a real frick-up in grade school, your chances of getting SSI are much higher.

Nobody with a little genius scholar on their hands is getting that SSI money, bro.

You have to look no further than the emphasis placed on education in the homes of these students.

But instead, politicians will toss money at the problem and fail to understand why that's not reducing the gap.

Fort Worth (the city) is spread out among several school districts (in TX school districts don't follow city boundaries). FWISD doesn't have that good a reputation. But Northwest and Keller are booming.

This is the biggest reason I never entered education. Black families (as a group) don't care about education.

This was also an issue with Cajuns back in the day. As a kid of the 50s I knew very few older folks who graduated HS. The tradition stemmed from job opportunities that didn't require education. The men could find work in fishing, farming, construction and oil fields.
The women worked in the home or as waitresses or telephone operators. There was no rotary dial till 1952 so even local calls needed an operator who didn't need a HS diploma.

New Iberia was offered SLI (later USL and now ULL) and the city turned it down. So, it was built in Lafayette.

I'm guessing the 'racial gap' is only referring to black and white. Seattle's largest minority is outperforming white students.

It's almost like these persistent gaps are immune to Progressive beliefs.

last couple of years my wife and I have traveled to Oregon and Washington State a few times. Those are two of the whitest states i have every seen. Most very progressive liberal states have very little diversity outside of California.

New England and most of the midwest and all of the mountain west states are whiter than WA.
