I would suggest it may indeed be "winning" to have other nations understanding this or at least thinking it so.

China is a real threat and the trade war with them can be justified in some capacity

But given that they're a real threat we need as many allies in the region to deter that threat

Philippines, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea are rather obvious. We don't need them strengthening ties with China. We need them on our side. I know it's a bit of a trope that all Asians hate all other Asians but it's highly preferable to maintain strong relationships with the countries that can keep China in check militarily.

this is going to sound dramatic, but any country that voluntarily decides to side with China knowing they will be at a full trade imbalance from the start, have their businesses and corporations at a disadvantage due to the impossible barriers to entry being extremely one-sided, and having their intellectual property be at risk due due to the joint ventures that China requires them to enter into in order to do business in the country.

well, if you know that and you're willing to do it, then you deserve have all that.

The USA is the largest consumer of all the Asian produced products. As cheap as they are, 75% of worlds population can't afford them. Who is going to replace us?

...That is a major bulwark against Islam in a part of the world that desperately needs it. It's surrounded by hundreds of millions of moslems. And the US Navy's 5th Fleet is essentially parked right at their doorstep.

Try not to get too excited…. Singapore’s elite are all ethnic Chinese…. Like much of SE Asia.

So?

There is not much love in Singapore for PRC nationals. There are cultural ties to be sure, but Singapore has been a consistent ally to the US on geopolitics in the region.

I don’t see the PRC having a consistent (and welcomed) military presence there. We have CVN’s and Aegis there on regular basis.

Right. If the 4D chess results in some kind of absurd own goal with Singapore, it's indefensible.
